Thanks Ten. Yeah I'm having to take the hobby time were I can get it. work is just leaving me knackered and in the wrong frame of mind for painting at the moment. Having said that, the painting bug is still active (usually at around 2am) and when it hits it won't be denied!

Thanks John, Dave and Kbear, your support is really helping push me forward with this :)

so so I did get some painting in over the last few days and I'm happy to say I think I'm on the home stretch with this particular mini. Just the lower half, detailing and finishing touches (coloured glazes, final detailing and hightlights) to do.

Originally this was to be part of a 5 figure diorama based on a Pail Bonner painting and was my entry into the Eavier Metal Eadbanger competition. However the closing date for that is the 31dt July and if my current snails pace is anything to go by there is little chance I'll make the deadline! My new plan is to finish up the Orc and try to paint up the Orge. Mount these guys on a smaller base for the competition but still aim to finish the larger diorama just at a later date. Hopefully this means I'll still have something to enter for the comp but I won't be tempted to rush the rest of the figures and possibly ruin them.

heres where I'm at so far with Orcy

C&C welcome

cheers

Tim

P.S I really need to update myself with everyone else's thread, I'm getting CMoN withdrawal :(

This is so amazing (especially since I'm a big Rackham fan). Looks like someone invented 3D printer which can print in colour and you'fe printed a Paul Bonner drawing to 3D. Just woncerfull.

Gino2dope

P.S. do you have kidnapped Paul Bonner and have him painting for you? :silly!::smile-big::worship!:

Your choice of colours really work well on this one, good idea to make the size of the piece smaller to give you a chance of finishing it, and don't worry I'm sure I'm not the only one who will nag you if you don't finish the rest of the diorama ! LOL

Great compromise/idea to meet the deadline!
Rushing you forward would'nt have been a good idea... work is probably rushing you already so... the less you want is that a hobby rushes you forward too... (at least that is what happens to me)
Love what you did on this last one, I would get exhausted after painting such quantity of details in just one 32mm miniature!

Thanks guys

i'm not certain how big he is but I know he's tiny and very detailed. In order to paint all that detail I ended up on my knees in the kitchen focusing all my lights through a magnifying glass just so I could make everything out! (I need Ter's eagle eyes obviously)

@ Gino wow thanks dude! No kidnapped P Bonner here I'm afraid, although I like the idea of having a tame fantasy artist at my beck and call. I've got a cellar so I can see this working quiet well "it rubs the lotion on it skin"

@ Johnboy Awfully nice of you to say so old chap what, what, what. That's British for "cheers buddy"

@ Dave Thanks mate, I'll need all the help I can get with these guys. I'm going to hopefully mock up a base tonight and see how it looks

@ Meanas thanks dude. Yeah compromise may be the only option here now, I don't want to do it but I won't finish in time otherwise. Painting all the little details is knackering. I'm having to stop after a few hours as my eyes start to hurt :(

@ Joce thanks mate. I have a new found respect for your abilities after painting this small. Before I just thought you were Increadibly talented now I know for certain your a witch :)

i posted a WIP of this little guy on Facebook the other day. I got a really nice message from a somebody saying he painted a few of these orc's when he worked for Rackham and he loved the skin tones. I asked if he had any pictures and he posted me a link. Turns out it was Martin Grandbarbe the guy responsible for a lot of Rackham's box art!! Over the moon doesn't even cover it!

Thanks again for all the great support guys and girls. You all rock

Nice from Martin, you handle yourself pretty well with those tinny Rackham details Tim, I especially like the back dagger and the armor shoulder pads.

@ Joce Thanks dude, coming from the master of fiddly detail that means a lot :)

@Sicks that's exactly how I felt about Rackham until recently. I've always preferred more realistic sculpts and I didn't like the cartoony look at all. I've completely changed my my now. I've fallen in love the quirky, caricature designs. They're so full of personality and great fun to paint.

Thanks Claire, Kbear, Saint and Dave. You and everyone have been great and really helped me push forward with this project. I may even finish it!!!!!!!!

With that in mind here's the new competition base. I still need to add large stones and the rock strata and while its not not what I envisioned I'm quite happy with how it's looking.

I want this to be as good as I can make it so any thoughts or C&C are more than welcome. Really don't hold back :)

Tim
