Tiriel in Silent Reflection

Hello again, having got through to the second round with my \"Behind you!\" piece, this is my round two piece for Iron Painter. I chose Tiriel as the theme was metallics and she is almost completely armoured. It was interesting to try to paint metals to competition standards, and I ended up mainly glazing a basecoat of boltgun metal with scorched brown and chaos black, only highlighting the very brighest spots. Annoyingly the pictures have come out a bit light, and I can\'t seem to edit it to the way it looks irl, as it is slightly darker tonally and more contrasted, oh well.

Hope you all like it,

I think you did a really good job with the metallics. That being said, I feel the entire piece is a bit uninteresting. There is just nothing to catch the eye. In my opinion there are too many drab and dull natural colors.

I\'d still give it an 8 or 8.5, cause it is undeniably good work, just not my thing.

I like the drabness of it all, as it gives the whole thing a very \'lonely\' and serene feeling.

The one thing I don\'t care for is the water. Well, no let me retract that...the water is awesome, I just don\'t like the way it forms the base.

There is no real point in seeing the depth of the water, and I think replacing the missing part of the plinth with a thin black plate would have been less distracting.

But, I agree with Jake, it\'s undeniable good.

You\'ve really upped your game lately, Mr. Squig

realy cool mate, always nice to see you progressing. :)

i would be tempted to push the shading a little further to enhance the contrast, just to help it \"pop\"
other than that, top job matey :)

I agree with Chris (words like sawdust in my mouth lol). Very smooth!

It is nice work on the metallics. I agree with the point about the water. It\'s a bit too murky and looks \"bubbly\"? maybe and that\'s hurting it a little bit.

Another small nitpick, the fern on her left appears unshaped and is awfully flat.

Nice shine on the metallics and the hair, good luck with the IP.

I am completely jealous of your basing skills. Voted by the way. I think you need to make a basing tutorial too lol
