To convert or not to convert?

I want to practice so I can sculpt my own, is that like 110% converted since I didn\'t start with anything? :p

I still like Orteza\'s work, especially his new Inquistor stuff so I like things converted.

The only thing I don\'t need to convert is Rackham figs.. can\'t improve on Greatness.. :D

i like to keep some models as they are but some i feel need something extra. most of my stuff has had something done to it, even if it\'s just a head or weapon swap as i think this can really change the feel of the miniature. like chrispy, i also would love to sculpt my own and am incorporating more scratchbuilt parts into my models.

I have always been too frugal. I never used to convert because I don\'t own any spare parts. I had the idea I\'d paint everything I ownlol
Now I realize most of what I own IS spare parts. So I will begin to convert though I haven\'t done any converting yet except for my Freya, which is really nothing more than a \"weapon\" swap (if you could call a surf board a weapon).

depends on the model really... some models look good the way they are... some well... could strike a more dramatic pose with some conversion...... its really a personal thingy I feel..... conversion is a challenge more than anything.....

and well.... if you have jus been paintin and doin nothin else all this while.... its a good change to break the trend....

75%!!

Chop the hip!! Chop the knees!! Plastic chest, arms (without hands, \'coz they are from another arm) make the powersword from sheet styrene, and put putty on the head!!!!:flip::bouncy::D

Can you tell that I spend most my time converting space marines? why???? \'cuz they\'re EASY!lol

Some models I didn\'t convert at all (like my warboss). I depends on what I wanna do that day, I guess.

I like to convert, even if its just to switch weapons, to make miniatures more unique. Plus it is a geat creative outlet!

There has to be a reason...

I think there has to be a reason to convert. You have to be able to say to yourself:
I gave that Wolfen a new head because....
I changed that Scout\'s pose because...
I chopped up my priceless Ltd Ed mini because...
Conversion for conversion\'s sake seems rarely productive IMO.

Flash of inspiration:- The one mini I would absolutely HAVE to convert at the moment is that new Grey Knight Justicar. Know the one I mean? The one that looks like he has just stepped in doggy doo. The box pic is hillarious \'cos the squad are surrounded by what look like dire wolves and there\'s this guy daintily lifting his foot and adopting an, \"Oh migod! I\'ve just stepped in something horible\" pose.

Made me laugh anywaylol

Converting a mini makes it unique

I think convert a normal marine is wast of time but special units, character minis or my favorite Mordheim gangs should have a lot of converting ( my gang is a complete converted tarlaner regiment :) )
