To Rose or not to Rose.....

It took me awhile, but I finally managed to finish up the female widowmaker mini. I also jus realised that this is like the nth figure I have made with roses somewhere on the mini or on the base.

I made a theme outta them cos whenever I look at her I think of Rose.....

well okay, the truth is, I have a STRONG BIAS for roses. :p They must be like catnip for me or something.

Anyways, the base is different from the other widowmakers I posted cos I thot she would stand out on a snowy base.... the base itself is made of some kinda resin and the icy water thing at the bottom consists of a transparent gel-like resin that dries into a glass-like material....

I also did some detailing on her clothes and sword sheath. So they would look like embroidery or cloth prints.

The lighting I have is not as great as I\'d want it cos I have limited light fixtures to play with... so pardon the rather dark features on the face......

Let me know what you all think.

Well we now know you like roses, like we couldn\'t have guessed. ;) :D

I\'ve left a comment on this figure last night (& voted of course).
I\'m not sure that the roses in this figures context are \'right\'. However the paintwork on the figure itself is very good.

Hi Dragonsreach,

thanks for the comment and vote :)
Horticulture aside.....I guess if anyone asks me about the roses... I\'ll say they are magic or something...... probably grown outta the blood of brave Khador soldiers... heh.

a rose by any other name...

I voted and commented, but I will say it again here..

I disagree about the rose. I think it works wonderfully with the miniature for aesthetic reasons.

First of all, the lady is obviously some sort of killer (i figured that out all by myself:D) and the addition of the flower makes me think she stumble upon this winter rose just after whacking somebody, and it has given her a moment of pause.

Also it works as kind of a metaphor. From the dead of winter, comes life.

Yeah, maybe I am looking too deep into this, but this is how I felt when I first saw it.

Now onto the criticism....I just think there is a little too much blue on the snow scape and although I love the rose, it may be a smidge big. I really love the rich colors you have given the killer though!

i have to say, i like the rose too. it\'s a bit of colour in and otherwise plain coloured base. i think it breaks it up nicely. it sort of suggests - winter is over, spring is coming...maybe!
