A new mini up. Please vote.

I did this mini for a player in my D&D game. It included a number of 1sts for me. This was my 1st attempt at blending, its not perfect but not bad considering the oranges I have are horrible.

This was my 1st time using cork to add to the basing.

This was the 1st time that I ever tried painting a 5 o\'clock shadow, I think that it came out pretty good.

And this was my 1st and 2nd attempt\'s at freehand work, on the sheild. I was not happy at all with my 1st attempt so I went over it and came up with what you see now.

I know that there are several areas on this mini that could be improved. But overall I am happy with the finished product. Yes I know the picture is a little dark. For some reason I could not get the front veiw to photograph well, I must of took like 30 different picture of the front.

Solid 7.

Apart from the face, and the orange and blue (which are both great) the mini seems pretty flat. And with such a large scale base, it seems like it\'s more of a display mini rather than a play mini. On my gaming pieces i try to make the base low key, so the Ogre isn\'t looking at the halflings boots.

Good mini though. i\'d DM him any day

@ Tidocco - Thanks for the vote and comment.

@ Itchy - Yeah at this point he is more of a display peice. The Character died. Decided to cross a rickity rope bridge across a 50\' chasam. He unfortunatly failed his balance and reflex checks and fell some 200 feet, of course bouncing of the side of the chasm. The worse part was the player told everyone to rope up before crossing, then did not do it himself. lol

...lol Nice one on pushing so many boundaries at once man! The base is nice,very good I\'d say for a first crack at cork,and the painting is cool too,especially the freehand on the shield! I\'d say a little of a darker tone in the recesses of the robe would help define it more strongly.Cheers

*Edit*-- I say define/definition too much man,need a more colourful vocabulary! lol

I hit him with a 7 as my vote, but I haven\'t got any comments that haven\'t already been made.
Advice on freehand, though, as I\'m just starting to play with it, myself....

Start off with more simple things, and work your way up, instead of getting into geometric shapes off the bat.

My first effort (incomplete, as yet, as it\'s also going to be my first conversion, which is still being worked on), is a simple solid border line. Trying to keep it of uniform thickness is the trick, there.

@ Naukhel What you now see on the sheild is actually my second go at freehand on that sheild. The 1st attempt was a very bad tree on a hill with a shooting star in the night sky. It was horrible. But I never claimed to be an artist. Thanks for the vote.
