Too cold to paint?

Hi all,

So Im painting right about now and usually by the time my brush stroke has ended, the beginning of the stroke is evaporating...but not today, the paint is sitting too long on the mini and forming awful uneven tones and marks...its quite chilly today and I was wondering if thats the cause?

you're most probly putting too much on, regardless of the consistency. are you letting the layer dry completly before adding a second layer?

It looks dry to me...but maybe I should leave it more. Until my Vallejo Model Colors arrive, I'm having to use Revell Aqua color paints. They dont thin too well, and the surface of my model appears grainy, not smooth at all. I'm priming with Humbrol Matte White Primer. I have the Miniature Mentor Videos and his models have a really smooth, almost silky texture to the surface of the basecoat, whereas my basecoat appears rough and granular. I think I'm wiping my brush off well, I dab it onto the paint (thinned of course) and then soak up the exess on a paper towel, and I don't really have any pooling what so ever, just my blends are bad, especially with bright colors, my shadows were fine. I think it might be the paint but can't really be sure, I'm using skimmed milk consistency for my paint, the pigments seem to seperate a little and wont mix back together smoothly. Watching the miniature mentor videos, Laurents brush seems quite damp, just so smooth.
