Trouble is you hear one song, you\'ve heard them all.
Doing a pastiche of someones songwriting/singing is ok once, but after a while it gets to the point where it no longer seems funny.
It\'s as if Weird Al has a gripe against people who are successful. (Just my opinion).

I think it\'s more as if Wierd Al still makes money doing it. I would have agreed with you mike, except he\'s been doing it for a LONG time, and still has a strong audience oddly enough. In fact his longevity is much greater than most of the \"real\" musicians he makes fun of.

I think that in itself is the real interesting point. I typically don\'t like most of his stuff now days, although this one had some clever moments, and he does have some real gems. But the fact he is able to keep doing it and keep making money doing it for so long is really something.

Al\'s stuff is for the most part pretty lame. Usually he just takes a successful song and puts different words on it. Sometimes this is good (Fat) most of the time not.
However, when he occasionally does a spoof that actually pokes fun at the seriousness of the original song or the message it gives (Smells Like Nirvana, Amish Paradise) it\'s very good.

When my nephews were much younger - 10-12, they REALLY wanted to go see Wierd Al and I was the one who had to take them. Thinking, well I\'m doing my duty as a longsuffering adult helping out the little ones.......I had a blast.

The strange part is that the guy is actually pretty well educated. He\'s funny at first, in a dorky kind of way, but it doesn\'t take long for the novelty to wear off, and it just gets stupid. So we\'ve gone from \"a boogie on my finger and I can\'t shake it off\" to \"constipated\". whoopie.

The whole thing kills me but the part where everything is going backwards except Al is COOL. Benny Hill used to do stuff like that and it almost always was hilarious.

Well think of it this way. He takes a popular song (now a days it seems to be whichever has the most complaining in it), chucks it in the paint stripper, and paints his own humorous take on it.
