Too Old for a Newbie?

I have been hanging around for awhile and just signed on recently. I wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed these forums and in a short period of time have learned a fair bit. I am particularly struck by the genuine helpful nature of so many who frequent these forums.

My name is Mike and I am in Oakville Ontario...yes home of GW Canada... I thought that I should take the opportunity to introduce myself. I have been wargaming for a while and really have the desire to step my painting level up. At 45 I figure I better get to it before I go blind or die or some such nonsense

I just wanted to say thanks for the laughs, thanks for the information, thanks for sharing your wonderful work and I look forward to getting to know all y\'all.;)

Welcome! I don\'t think there\'s really such a thing as \"too old\" for this hobby. As long as you enjoy it, who cares if they call you \"immature...\" ;)

Hey, be careful what you call \"old\" here. I am the same age as you and refuse to grow up. DragonsReach is even older than us and packs a mean hammer for those uppitty young painters. lol

Old is really my metal knee and my eyes, age really does not count. It is only after chasing 5 kids around all summer that I feel old.....schools back in... It\'s the most wonderful time of the year.

I do keep my teeth filed so I don\'t get too long in that department myself:D see no fangs

Welcome mike I also am a fellow newbie(ish) I have been called immature all my life but who cares. As long as you enjoy the hobby it really doesn\'t matter what anybody else thinks. Comments like that usually come from people who just don\'t get it.

welcome aboard!

i think nobody\'s too old for mini painting as long as you can see the mini itself holding it with your arm!

Welcome aboard from another fellow newbie!! :D

You\'re never too old to do something new, and no hobby is immature.

Eyestraining, yes (says a woman who\'s waiting to get bifocals soon). ;)

@ sniffles bifocals aren\'t so bad I just look over the top of them when I paint

@all my .....ahem... nephews... thanks for the welcome

@ supervike... your hair does have a reddish tinge.....naaahhhh:D

Thanks for the welcomes all, it almost feels like home already except there aren\'t a bunch of kids demanding that I keep them in miniatures. The oldest 3 of 5 are into this in a pretty big way. I can handle the chaos, and there is always room for more friends, especially those with whom a passion is shared...OK those with whom a love is shared....NoNoNo....those with whom there is a sense of shared creativity. Thanks again

Welcome to another coffin dodger. I\'m only a couple of years behind you, and I sure don\'t plan on stopping, heck I\'m just getting started, I still have a HUGE pile of minis in the to be painted box!

Sorry, I should have put a wink on there.

It\'s a trick question, for those of us who are such Banzai geeks that we actually took props to the theatre, like the people who\'ve seen Rocky Horror a thousand times. :p
