Well not really.

I have always been interested in different Sub-cultures and people psychology. After quitting Warhammer 4-5 years ago, due to laziness i suppose, i decided to start back up again and what better way i thought to coerce myself back into the culture of Warhammer, then to interact with the community at large, things like the forums, meeting places etc.
One place i have found a really strong community of people talking and playing Warhammer is on Youtube. I know what you might think but there is really over a hundred people actively blogging and building up a small legion of Warhammer faithfuls. Some of you on here might be involved and in which case i will be interested in hearing what you think of it. It has been quite interesting to observe this community from its conception and now while it continues to grow.

Soooo without further ado, my question is:-

How would you define the sub culture of Warhammer?

Do you have specific forums that you frequent religiously, or people in the community that you aspire to be. I ask because i feel a bit out of the loop here because im been away for so long. Thanks for putting up with my craziness.

evil tendencies

Cake or Death?
Well, in my experience there is a large number of warhammer players that don\'t know other games (or, sometimes, models) exist. I think this is part of a bigger \"fanboy\" trend that I am certainly guilty of at times.

You can\'t really call them \'nerds\' or \'geeks\' as both those imply a higher level of average intelligence... I think possibly a subset of \'dweebs\' perhaps?

All in good fun. :drunk:

BTW, this is post 999 for me, I\'m gonna have to think of something truly prophetic for post 1000. Might take a while.

This goes with what evil tendencies said. Locally there are three relatively known Gaming \'Clubs\'. One of which is a Warhammer one. The one thing I have seen with local Warhammer club is a type of pseudo-elitism. They only allow Warhammer games to be played and only following all tournament rules (aka GW minis, latest codex, etc). In addition to this they have their own website and forum and generally refuse to post on other forums, or attend other club meetings except to recruit and pimp their game. Oposite to this they do not look kindly to other people to going on to their site and pimp anything or try to recruit anyone. If one of them shows up at an event for the other club it\'s usually to berrate the players and try to get them to \'convert\' to the \'superior game\': Warhammer.

How interesting. I had an inkling that there would be some intense rivalry between people. Funny how it transcends through all things even minature wargaming.
:p
