Trip around the world

Thanks Dauber!

The picture really doesn\'t do it justice. It\'s all cedar and the interior wall (exterior wall of the house) is Hardishake. It will be painted light grey like weathered cedar. Eventually we\'re going to re-do the whole house and have Hardishake on top and the brick that\'s on the bottom painted dark grey.

@Frenchkid - I\'m glad you included vacation pics. We\'ve got some great ones we took from the tops of various lighthouses.

I could not do my area justice with the pictures I\'ve got. However, there is a web site that many professional photographers use that can give you a much better view of my Kansas City and the features and attractions around and therein.
So I present to you...

Kansas City

This is Lee Stocking Island in the Exumas section of the Bahamas where I was doing research. I was there for a few weeks each year for 5 years collecting data. I snapped this shot during some down time. It was a fun place to do work even if the ac didn\'t work and the biting flies swarmed.

The island is about a half-hour away by small plane so I guess it counts as close to home.

That\'s like someone linking to the GW catalogue in the galleries...We are talking personal experience here...your view, your neighbourhood. Otherwise please look at:

Which is a site I have just invented:flip:

I would show you where I live but you would probably have to burn your monitor in disgust.

Basicly they could drop a atom bomb on it and none could tell the difference

The planet Mars...It\'s less than half-hour away at about warp three, so I guess that too counts as close to home too:

It\'s not as good looking as the Bahamas however:D

Close enough Stoke-on-Trent actually.
This place makes Titan seem warm and homely

Well if this is where we live or work then that is where I work for part of the year. The rest of the time I\'m in Miami but I don\'t have nice photos. I could take some shots of the topless girsl on South Beach but that probably wouldn\'t go down well here. :)

This isn\'t my home per se, but it is my home away from home for about 3 months of the year. This is taken from atop Mount Maxwell on Saltspring Island, a little walk from my dad\'s home. There aren\'t really any neighbourhoods in the south end, but I thought this constituted as my \"haunts\". :)

I\'ll take a picture of Nelson when it\'s not so shitty....we\'re in the transition month now, when Nelson is just a pile of bare branches, sand, slush, rotting leaves, and dog-shit being revealed by the melting snow. :)

Neat thread! Glad I have a broadband connection. :p

...and now, not due at all to popular demand, here\'s a junk pic of my house!

IMGA0119.jpg

And for nicer pics of the area, here\'s two pics from a retreat my theatre company had two years or so ago to Lopez Island, in the San Juan Islands of Washington state.

...riding on the ferry...dum de dum...AH! BIRD!
DCP_2535.jpg

And a dead tree as seen from the back deck of the house we stayed at.

I don\'t really have any good digital pictures of the more urban Seattle area. When there\'s more light outside, I can take a picture of the creek running behind my house and stuff around town though...if I remember. :p

edit: holy cow that bird turned out huge. Sorry!

@ Nelson - Oh yeah. Gorgeous. Definitely one of my favorite places in the Northwest. Close seconds might be some places in the Cascades and the Olympic Peninsula.

...that and some of the local pubs...but for different reasons. ;)

Puget Sound is gorgeous.

Yes it is. What I really love about the area is that it is always green. On clear days you can see The olympic Mts, Cascade Mts, and what I think as the Gem of the Northwest MT. Rainer. And you know Downtown Seattle is really bueatiful as well.
