Trying to do to much?

Just put up my newest mini Goblin Assassin and i have to say, not a big fan of the picture. i did the feathure thing and everything like i was told by everyone, but it still turned out pretty jagged. i mean, the painting looks nice, but it really doesn\'t pull everything together the way i\'d hoped.
Any help?
Thanks,

Oh, and how\'s my painting? Getting any better?

Hi Itchy, I think you have a good start to something here, the blends do look cleaner and with a bit more practice it will only get better. The mini could use a touch more shading and another highlight I think to help define it better. Also one thing I see is that the lighting doesn\'t seem to be consistant. Especially if you look at the squares on his tunic. The ones on his right leg are lighted from the upper right, and those on his left leg from the upper left. It kind of creates an uneasy feeling to the piece like something isn\'t quite right... It happens a couple other places as well. If you pick one direction for the lighting to be coming from I would bet you\'d see a quick increase in your score.

I hope that helps some, definately improvement, keep it up! :)

Thanks

yeah, i had troubles with the light source because i just wanted the lighting to be coming from \"somewhere above\" him, but then there was plenty of stuff above the jacket to cast shadows down. Definite lack of planning on my part. For some reason that blue was just impossible to get right. Liked the way the purple and gold turned out though.

Thanks again:)
