Yeah keep workin on the skull until you get it right. Only way you'll learn how to do it. You can always keep cutting it off if it sucks until it looks right ;)

OK, so it's almost too big now. But hey.

On a related note, am I the only one that thinks the Space Marine shoulder pads are the most over-sized piece of armor since, well, ever? Is it some kind of overcompensation issue?

*cough* small winkeys *cough*

nice going might i suggest super fine wet n dry paper with 50/50 washing up liquid and water for that extra smooth look, good grief i sound like an add for a lady shaver lol.

Thanks cassar. I know i have some 2000 grit around here somewhere. The combination of an iphone as a camera and the extreme close up of the pics make it look a little rougher than it does in the hand. But there will certainly be sanding and finishing aplenty before I'm done.

skull looks good! i guess the large shoulder pads are to accommodate the icons. always seem something of a focal point for marines.

Did some painting today, and the mailman brought me a toy from Thailand. Looks like cassar isn't the only one who can play with big minis:

It's not, although apparently it was made by the same 5 year old indentured servant. Lots of casting artifacts to fix.

My sincerest apologies good sir, I did not mean to offend! lol

Here's a pic of my latest project:

Can't see it? It's because it's secret!
I'll post up pics when it's done.

In other news, the mailman keeps bringing me more minis to assemble and paint. First it was the anime chick, then yesterday it was the summoner and guardian AND the pleasure demon from ultraforge. I'm going to actually have to start painting again just to free up space on my table!

TEASE!

Skull v 2.0 is much improved. I'd suggest sharpening up the nasal and zygomatic bones a tad. As was stated before, reference pics are a beautiful thing. Looking forward to updates. Elly, zat is my pahtee! zat is my cake, zat is my wife! Yeeaaaaraagh!

Haha well A) I haven't take any pics and B) there are certain people who frequent this forum who would stumble upon said pics and ruin the surprise anyways. So it's under wraps until I finish it and they take delivery. Sorry.

As for the skull, I will probably remove it and try again. Practice makes perfect, right? And it's too large anyways.

Project is coming along nicely. It's amazing how much faster I'm getting with each sculpt.
Anyways, some pics to placate the masses (no, not of the secret project though)
I thought I heard something....

So I suck at keeping my own secrets - which is ironic, since keeping secrets has been part of my job for the last 10 years or so.

I, among others (everyone) has said that about kevlar at one point or other lol! Does the job, innit. Liking the look you got going on here. Keep going with it, even if you end up displeased about the end of thi#un you'll learn and move on! I've watched a few folk here progress in sculpting relatively quickly. They're really nailing it down now! (Not Cass though, he cheats with power tools. Only reason I let it slide is because he earns man points by using manly power tools).

Haha those legs were done quickly so that the robe would have the right shape. In fact there are a few spots I'm going to have to go back and clean up because the robe didn't cover them.
