Nice job on this one. The sheer looks good, as does the rest of her. Glad to see you're keeping up with this one. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks. I got a little more done, but had to stop because I really need to base her. I can't pin her like a smaller mini because of the weight, and constant handling keeps wearing paint off on the edge of the dress and her head. So I'll have to scrape something together later so that I can finish this one up. Not much left - shoes and groceries (and dog and leash and base).

So I, uh, seem to have a bit of a dilemma. You see, my painting table seems to have eaten the poodle. The scene makes little enough sense as it is. Without the dog, it's hopeless. So I guess I better break out the greenstuff and conjure up another dog. I just hope my skills are up to the task.

Well with the pin up in a holding pattern, I got some more paint slung at Draz. Just blocking in colors really.

Well, you were talking earlier about finding an ulterior motive because of the eyes. Now that the dog has disappeared you might have to come up with one after all!

Yeah. I got a good chunk of her base done, but I still have to finish building that, and then sculpt a dog too. So for the time being it's the Draz show. I will definitely address the eye in his forehead.

So I've been quiet for a bit. Part of it was not wanting to sculpt a new dog, but mostly it was a hectic work schedule.

I found the poodle. So there's that. Unfortunately I've hit a snag with her base. I'm afraid that if I leave her to the left, with the dog in the middle, the whole thing will look unbalanced.

However, if I add a tree like I want, it won't look right because it will just look like a piece of wood sticking out of the ground.

If I were to extend the tree high enough to get some branches, it would dwarf her and throw everything off. Help?

On another note, I've been watching some videos on airbrushing, and I got around to trying it again. I had stripped Francesca and started in on her skin. I was on a roll, but quickly realized I wasn't ready to paint anything else, since she was all in pieces and had some major prep work to do. But I was in an airbrushing mood, so I grabbed this out of my box and sprayed some skin:

You do have some figuring out to do on her. I like the idea of a tree but your concerns are very valid. The painting looks really nice. That new kit looks like an excellent piece to work on.

I may have to scratch the current base then. She's so close to done, I don't want to stall out.
As for the other lady - I picked her up back in 2011. Here's the whole thing:

I think she is looking brilliant! Where did you get that kit? It looks awesome and I've not seen one before.

Ditto, very cool.

For the other one, how about a lamp post or stop light instead of a tree...maybe a hydrant next to it or the doggie ;).

Or stop sign...or leash law sign.

I like the tree idea. Why not just bring down the size of the tree and have it something like this?

I think it would look nice using the different paving styles and would keep a more old school feel to it rather than going for something like a lamp post and risk bringing a bit too much of a urban feel

@secretpaintgeek - that was originally my idea. Finding sticks outside to proxy those trees was proving difficult. Maybe I just end up sculpting it with a wire frame. Shouldn't be too difficult, and I need to mix up some GS for prep work on Francesca anyways.

Today has been a good day. Mikatu asked me for some help getting his wings done, so I did a few feathers to show him the process:

I also worked some on the old termie librarian. My friend knows I'm about to take a commission for Vulkan for his buddy, so he's anxious to get his librarian back. Gave me an excuse to play with senmm some more. It also made me cry a bit as it was done before I discovered glaze medium, and the blends are a bit rough.

(purple was his idea)
