TrystanGST's WIP thread

He's...different. Twice now, he's moved on his own and gotten down from a 6 foot tall display case. Not a loss of balance, or the case being bumped or rattled. Cthulhu just decides he wants to be somewhere else and jumps. He did it today. I had finished the green, and put him back up there. My brother was playing XBox in the same room, and saw something moving out of the corner of his eye. It was Cthulhu, BASEJumping off the display cabinet. At this point he is all glued and gap filled (except for his head and base), and he came thru without a scratch. Say what you will about the stuff, but Bones are pretty much indestructible.

On a separate note, 54mm Talullah came in over the weekend. Sword was broken, but the sculpt and cast are both amazing. Will be a lot of fun to paint.

LOL... You have a mini with a death wish!! Besides that, he's looking great. Wish I could do more with my airbrush. A mini that size is a pain to paint with brush.

I wouldn't even contemplate it, honestly. Cthulhu, Kaladrax, Nethyrmaul, Wyrmgears. None of them would see paint without the airbrush.

You may have noticed a lack of activity on the wolfen. Well the travel to and from has rubbed paint off of the high spots, and I don't want it to get worse. So he has to stay home, where I haven't been doing much painting. What hobby time I do have at home is currently occupied with other projects.

Anyways - another Bones to play with. This one is Nick Stone, IMEF Squad Leader. Just base coats, about 90 minutes so far.

I'm interested to know how you might treat the worn spots? I have a piece I was working on that I'm going to strip and redo, because of chips and rubs.

Hey hun - how ya doing? Sorry I've been away. Had to get another novel posted to Amazon (gotta pay the bills!) and that took a ton of time. Been trying to work on YouTube tutorials and get stuff painted for the conference coming up fast.

You're work is looking fantastic! Did you finish Prowler and I missed it? I saw you post to my google photo album. I started messing with mine but haven't kicked it into high gear yet.

I probably should go dust off my WIP thread and at least post some photos huh? lol!

kath - prowler is under house arrest, since travel seems to be removing paint.

Talullah!

Also, another shift on the IMEF Leader. Just a few bits left to do.

The IMEF guy is coming along nicely! Talullah looks like she'll be fun. Is that the 54mm version? Are you going to enter her into the Infamy contest over on wamp?

Thanks. He's just a quick paint. She is the 54mm, and the plan is to enter her. Not sure I'll have time though - I need to get her friend Melisandre done before GenCon, as well as another sculpting/painting project before mid-August.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Wamp just announced another RBG contests so between that, the Darklands one, and getting ready for two shows in September I'm not sure how I'm going to get all of my projects finished. But good luck on her and at GenCon. I'll be looking forward to seeing how they all turn out.

Worked on the Bones Valkyrie at Mikatu's this weekend. Decided I didn't like her sword so swapped it with a spear I got with the Bombshell Kickstarter.

Just base coats and a quick wash.

Also, found out that our favorite new release from Infamy has her own beer!

hehe very cool! How does the beer taste?

I can't go to GenCon because my author/readers conference in Vegas is a week before. Unless I hit a jackpot in Vegas, I won't be able to go to two conferences in the same month.

However, I found out a HUGE Star Trek convention in Vegas is the same weekend as my author one, sooooo I managed to get a one day ticket and also snagged an autograph pass and a photo op ticket (it's crazy that you have to pay for everything separately like that). Anyway it's going to be HUGE they've got 100 confirmed guests - the only folks I can think of who won't be there are Picard, Nimoy (I think he retired from cons) and Wheaton. Goldberg is MIA too. But they've got so many actors, writers, folks behind the scenes...I wish I could spend more time, but I'm just glad I get to go for one day.

After this, I'm focusing long term and Adepticon...fortunately, ReaperCon is later in the month. If I can save up the money, I just might attend two conventions in the same month next year. lol!

You are kicking butt on the bones. The spear change out was a smart one.

I just started painting up some bones this weekend. There is a lot more flash on these than i expected...and it cannot be easily seen without paint on them. I put some Vallejo gray wash on Mr.Bones and it helped a lot and i am making pretty good progress on him (i am actually using a similar paint scheme as your IMEF soldiers). I had a wraith or deathnight thingy to start as well that i figured would be best with a dark base, so i got my OLD GW black ink out to help find mold lines and see detail...WARNING: do not use old school GW ink on raw bones. It is sticky as all get out now.

So it's been a few, but with 30 days to the big event, things get hectic. Anyways, about 2 hours tonight sees the silver and gold done. Still need to get the spear primed somehow.

Yes excellent silver.. the TMM is really well used! Excellent mini...
Jealous for the Bones, still didn't get mine, people slightly upset about the situation for Rest of the world buyers... No news... after waiting soon one year in few weeks

I don't blame you guys for being upset. And I thought I had it bad when they sent out all those vampires and I had to wait a few extra weeks.

And it's not TMM ;) It's a quick and dirty NMM. I have yet to get a good grasp on TMM. The closest I came with that was on the leg plate of my zombie minotaur. Of course, I butchered his axe blade, so it's really a wash.
