I went thru a period earlier today where I was going to just scrap this figure. At least in terms of entering GD. Between the time constraints, the new level of scrutiny he'll face, the NMM, and the freehand, I just wasn't sure I was up to it. My first attempt at the freehand on the inner cloak made it worse.
But I took a break, came back, and I'm happier this time around. There's still loads to do, but I might just pull this off.

Me on the other hand, I've got to log off and actually PAINT something. Looking at this thread, Elly's, and some others - wow. I get this voice that tells me I'll never be able to paint like that! But then I hear another one that says, Yes, you can just keep practicing. lol!

Look ^^^, it's 3 very talented painters that are full of crap and fail to realize that they are very good at what they do. Now everybody, back to work!
Keep at it Trys, you have a very impressive mini going, looks like you have learned a lot from the last one. This is your year, man.

lol! At least I've got a second voice that argues with the first (yes, I hear voices, yes I talk and answer myself, and yes I argue with myself - it's never boring around here). For years all I had was the first one that said I'd never be good enough. Now, I got another one telling me to stop whining, get off my duff and go paint - I will get good if I just PAINT!
And if Trystan keeps this up he's going to give some serious competition to the Single Mini category.
Lol, thanks. Now all I have to do is spend less time on the bloody internet and maybe one day Ill actually finish something in time for a comp.

Haha no updates yet. I was a lazy bum this weekend. I basecoated the outer cloak, and I'll work on shading it today.

What are you asking about for the basing? It needs to be on an appropriate gaming base, only bits from LoTR, and no third company bits. Other than that, static grass, rocks, and such are fine. As are scratch builds. That is as far as I know.

I mean is there a size/height limit? If he's limited to what I can stick on a 25mm square base, I don't have many options. Say I wanted to do some stairs from Lothlorien, for instance.
