Milosh - will do. I know I'll be getting some of their stuff sooner or later.
Zab - it's actually the Savior Pin Up from Kingdom Death. Been a while since I painted one of Poot's pets. And she was just taunting me.

Apologies for the phone pics, but I don't have my nice setup here at work ;)

Before I get to the Saviour, I thought I'd share what I did this weekend. As some may know, I actually do very little painting at home. But I have a few minis that don't travel well, so I only work on them at home. This guy is one of them.

And now for the Saviour. The card art shows sheer white stockings. I've only done sheer once successfully before, and it wasn't white. White sheer seems to behave differently from even other sheer colors. I hesitated a lot after basecoating but before working in the other colors/shades. But I think the result worked.

The phone washes out some of the color, but you should be able to get a basic feel for it at least.

Love those horns and I am curious how you did the stockings as I have a Fianna to paint and frankly, her arm and leg stockings are making me nervous. Just thin glazes over the skin tones? Please be that simple, please be that simple...:fingers-crossed:

Zab - rather than retype it all, I put up a little SBS over here: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49309-trystans-assorted-wips/?p=790748

Meph and Bailey - thanks. The white stockings made me nervous. I spent a good 45 minutes googling sheer white stockings. More than any other color, it seemed that white was very uniform. That made it harder to emulate, since if I just left her legs white you wouldn't get the sheer feel. But I couldn't exaggerate as much as you could with black or nude, since it'd just end up with a wet tshirt feel.

Oh boy, the things you have seen, no doubt...
Still, less fun than asking the missus to model for you (paint her like one of your french girls), but also less risky than hanging out at the red light district (But officer, I'm just taking photographs to use as reference material).

Meph - so true. At one point I wanted to sculpt our cake toppers for our wedding cake, and she wouldn't even pose for reference pics for that! And I didn't even ask her to take her clothes off for the pics!

Nice models Trystan! The girls stockings is perfect imo. The minotaurs weapon has an intriguing look, i assume it's NMM, it really looks like the metal is gleaming through the rust, as if worn.

Thanks - the weapon is actually is a Vallejo metallic (bronze iirc), which was then heavily stained with brown before getting the patina added with (again, IIRC) thinned jade green. I wanted the appearance of an ancient, seldom used weapon. But the edge is still shiny from use!

Hair and eyes are still WIP. The art shows red eyes, but it doesn't translate will on the mini. The hair needs another highlight or two.

My poor Isabey Kolinsky stopped holding a point. It's been my workhorse for well over a year. So I needed a replacement. I don't want to buy one online, because I want to be able to look at and test the brush before I buy it.
So I head out to Michaels (an arts/hobby/craft store) to look at their brush selection. Ugh. They have brushes, but they're mediocre at best. I didn't want to drive all over the place hunting a proper Raphael or W&N though, so I picked up what turns out to be a red sable/synthetic blend with a nice point (an actual point, not the fake glued ones I discovered about half a dozen of). It's a bit stiffer than a sable, but not like a synthetic. Of course I went home and ordered an 8404 anyways.
I also picked up some of the Pink Soap. On a lark, I used it on my Isabey. It actually came back! Not all the way, but it's not a total loss anymore. Yay! I actually used the new brush in a few spots on the Saviour here. It's ok. Not a replacement for a real sable though.

Your skin work seems to be getting easier for you. Amd the minotaur must be about a year old mini necromancy...glad to see it resurrected.

Her hair turned out beautifully too. Have you ever tried escoda brushes? They have a wide range of sable for water color and acrylics and are not as hard to come by as W&N or Rapheal - at least in my area.

Pink soap... wait, whut? What is this you speak of? I'm only getting Fight Club flashbacks...

Yeah I picked one up. They have a few ranges of short handle brushes. Its a size 1. More snap than other sables, but - and this will sound weird - but the balance seems off. It's comfy to hold, but I seem to drop it a lot. Just that specific brush too.

So - the source artwork for this mini shows a tartan pattern on the skirt. No problem, I think to myself. Hah. Any attempts at vertical lines just look like more pleats. So I just stuck with my horizontal line. I really should have put this one higher up, and added a second one. I also added a stronger highlight to the hair and darkened the pupils. All that's left really is the brown, the black, and a few odd bits. And a base. But I have a plan for that.

And as a bonus, I am going to show you guys the start of the base for my Crystal Brush project.

This ate up a ton of GS. And I'm a bit concerned that the gaps between the stones aren't deep enough. But I'll press on and see.

So this weekend has been about rearranging the house. Getting my horribly messy hobby table cleaned up and moved, among other things. It's nice, because it finally gave me a chance to arrange things.
Here's the new space:

And my shelf of shame:

And the postman brought me some new paint (Scale 75 steel nmm set):
