Hi all,

I thought i had better ask for some feedback on my two main GD entries this year. Both of them got through to the finals, but missed out on placing. I\'m still pleased with how they went though.

Many thanks to Automaton, Jamie, and Ralph for taking photos of some of the entries for the day, as their pictures are better than the ones i could take :)

40K Medium:
(Yes, he is fantasy, but the base size/shape decided the category, so he had to go into 40K. Still happy that he went that far under those conditions though)

I really like the ork, the blade is cool and you have done a great job with the checks and then the skin as well as using unusual colours, the blues give it a icy/cold feel.

For the uruk hai i dont really like it too much. It all seems quite flat, the skin colour is fine it just doesnt seem to stand out and contrast enough same with the armour as well.

Congrats on reaching he finals, and good luck for the next GD

Doh! It figures that the day i upload my GD entries is the day my photobucket account exceeds bandwidth. I had to reupload them as well as they had been deleted from my profile. That\'ll teach me...

Anyway, these should work now. As i said earlier, comments and criticism welcome.

Dangerous when wet
the orc is awesome, I love the lip colour - the coldness suits the base really nicely!

The uruk on the other hand isn\'t my favourite. The one thing that would really sort him out for me is to really push the contrast on the flesh and the armour. For the flesh I\'d refer you to Joe\'s skulltaker eavy metal masterclass in the UKWD (dunno if it was in others), you\'ll see what he does with the final flesh highlights and the effect that creates, and for the armour, have a look at the real metallics article here on CMON. having said that though, there are plenty of positive points about him - the detail is sharp and clean, the base works well (though not sure about the bestial brown rim, personal preference I know) and the pose is nice

Sweet! I hope some of that helps,

James
