Turning the hobby into a job

Great to hear about this project of yours and the excitement you have for it. I really like the idea of larger figures as that is what I like to paint. The teaser picture of the girl looks very tasty. Keep us posted!

Just to clarify, the colour picture of the girl is my desktop background, the file in front of it is the Z Brush file for the model. I am being ridiculously secretive just now, but will be showing loads as the months go on. :)

It is kinda interesting. I cycle my desktop wallpapers fairly regularly with whatever latest stuff takes my fancy on my trawls around the interwebz. I find desktops interesting. I think they say quite a bit about people's personalities. Seem to remember there was an old 'post your PC desktop' thread (or that may have been another forum) but search seems to be epically failing, so I will start up a fresh one and put it in there. :)

that shoe looks rather intriguing. as you say - a simple shoe it may be, but a very nicely sculpted one. I await The Big Reveal with bated breath...

I'm battling the urge to show more of the models, but hopefully the wait will be worth it and they will be tempting enough that they end up on people's painting tables before we are too far into 2012. :)

On the painting side of things, I may have got myself a hell of a big job to be getting on with soon. Other than the deposit being transferred into my bank account, I'm looking set to get started on a truly epic army commission. I hope nothing falls through, because I'm massively excited about it. It's a full Space Marine army and a really creative Chapter that the client has conceived of himself. Everything will involve conversion work and at least high end tabletop paint jobs. A character, Dread and two terminator squads are to be done at competition standard. That's me busy for a good long while then! Gonna sting my output, with a higher focus on quality than quantity, but I can play catch up on Project 666 later in the year!

Seriously I say GOOD FOR YOU!!!! =) I am a big believer in following your dreams, especially if you don't have much tying you down (debt, children, etc) Just make sure you have other things to fall back on in case anything happens (I am sure you already know that though)
I am a free lance artist also that paints for clients, sculptors and companies. I love what I do, I love attending and teaching at the conventions, and I truly love my clients/ students/ fans. I have another job too since I have a lot of bills and I am pursuing more college degrees so that I have other things to fall back on, but painting is what I love to do the most.
Best thing I ever did besides the music industry, too bad there is no money to be made in the music industry anymore.
I cant wait to see what you come out with for your company! I am truly excited for you! =D

Yup, lack of serious commitments are really helping me have a go at this and the painting is a good steady earner while I set up the company. It's making me happy doing it, and I'm not worried with stress or freaking out about where the next lot of rent is coming from... yet! ;)

Aaaand, because it looks like my first mini is only 7 weeks from being ready to order, a bit more of a tease. A chunk of her concept art. I'll probably start a proper thread for things in a few weeks as I run up to launch, but here will do for now I reckon. :)
