Two Questions

I\'m planning a conversion for a warhammer mounted wight lord with carrying the battle standard (well not carrying, but attached to his back), and I can\'t decide what sort of banner to use. I want to use a plastic one from some box set. Now I do have the small banner from the goblin box set, but I fear with it being so small its not really suitable for an army\'s battle standard. So now I\'m stuck, I have a banner, but I think it\'s too small... and I\'d rather not have to spend money to get a different banner. I think the banner from the orc boyz box would probably be best, but it might be a little too large (the wight is rather small...) and I don\'t have any left. So before I go and use a banner that is too small or buy a new one I would like some feed back, ideas, or comments from you guys.

Secondly, I plan on doing alot of cobble stone (well, old run down broken with patches of grass cobble stone...) type bases for the army but I don\'t really know what the best aproach is. I know i could use green stuff and carve the lines in, but doing this for large units (30+ models seems a bit too much for me, plus I\'m not terribly good with green stuff). Another method I\'ve heard of is cutting small squares and rectangles out of thinner plastic or even cardboard and gluing those down and that seems like the best plan to me but I haven\'t really seen it done so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some tips or advice, maybe pictures that would help me out.

Thanks for your time.

P.S. I don\'t have a camera right now but when I get a hold of one I\'ll post the work I\'ve done on the wight lord along with the banner so that you can actually see what I\'m doing.

For the banner have you thought of doing one on paper. do your designe paint etc scuff up nake it look old and then glue it to the back pole.

For the cobble stones you can either by it from a hobby store in sheets then you just make regiment bases I would do two ranks by whatever frontage you use and then for the last two ranks do a single rank regiment base and the last rank as individuals. You can also get textured wallpaper that has the effect your looking for. Good luck.

@Wolf_fang: I\'ll definately try the mustard seed idea... it sounds like it would work, and probably not be too expensive...

@Ogrebane: As for the paper banner idea, I have to admit I didn\'t think of it. I\'m not really fond of the paper banners to be honest. I really enjoy the plastic ones for some reason. So if push comes to shove I may just do a paper one until I can get my hands on a good plastic banner.
Again I didn\'t even think of using the regiment bases... You\'re just full of great ideas. You wouldnt happen to know the dimensions of the bases from GW do you? Something tells me they\'re 80x20, so 4 20mm base models on one... Would work good for zombies with a frontage of 8... But for my skeletons and grave guard I plan on doing a frontage of 7 and 5 respectively...

For those who are interested this is one of my ideas for the banner, it\'s the seal of the necrarch from the GW UK site:

Although I\'m not sure I\'ll use it since it is probably going to be the Banner of the Barrows and I\'ve yet to come up with a good idea for that one...

And just for fun here is a concept sketch I made for my wight lord. (The skull is very poorly drawn but you get the idea...)

@Naukhel: When I fist saw the picture on the GW site I new it had to be on a banner in my army. I think its just awesome. Hopefully I\'ll be able to freehand it properly.

@cookster: Well I\'m gonna be making a trip into my local shop and I\'ll see if I can pick up some of those plastistruct cobble stone sheets, or something similar.
