Two questions...

I have two questions that probably have easy answers so I\'ll put \'em both in one thread:

1.) Does Derek Schubert have a website and if so what is the URL? And secondarily what is his handle on CMON (again, if he has one).

2.) What are some good magazines in the realm of this hobby of ours that are written in English and aren\'t White Dwarf?

I like Privateer Presses \'No Quarter\'. Although it is about their product.

You may have better luck asking about Derek Schubert on the Reaper boards as I more people over there knows him. AFAIK he\'s not active here.

Probably a good point. I\'ll pop over there for that question.

Is no quarter more gaming centered or more hobby centered? Is it pretty much like the Privateer Press version of White Dwarf (which I like by the way) or is it better in some ways?

What other magazines are there? Are there any that aren\'t manufacturer specific?

No Quarter is fairly gaming centered, I would say. There is usually at least one painting/modeling and one terrain article per issue (usually pretty cool terrain), with the rest of the articles being game scenarios, background world info, upcoming releases, stuff like that. Though it\'s been about a year since I browsed through more than the occasional issue. I used to work at a game store and enjoyed browsing the magazine while it was slow. :-> I\'ve bought an issue or two since, but usually the ratio is too heavy on the game side to interest me.

You might also want to get the english \"Cry Havoc\" published by Rackham.

The latest ones are very game/fluff centric, but the early ones have some of the best painting articles I\'ve read.

For reading material, you might also look for back issues of Harbinger Magazine. It was primarily a gaming magazine, but covered a wide variety of companies and included painting and terrain articles and reviews of miniatures. I\'ve seen copies on sale from
Crocodile Games, Paizo and Noble Knight.

There\'s also an online magazine called Fictional Reality that includes mini reviews and game material. It\'s free, and you can download all the back issues.

Harbinger still has an online magazine every now and again!

But, there isn\'t much out there for \'paper\' reading material.
