me and my friend Alex committed to painting/building minis for atleast an hour every day for the foreseeable future in order to get better at it. to make sure that we are doing what we are supposed to and also to get comments etc we decided to start a thread to keep track and let others be critics and such, as well as give us hints and tips.

to start things off i built, based and undercoated this firewarrior, my first actually and im looking forward to painting it to see what i can do.

I have, for well over 2 years now, been saying that I'm going to start my Necromunda Van Saar gang.

With this pact (so to speak) started I lit a fire under my own arse and got started on modifying my Van Saar gangers.

Feedback is always welcome, I aim to always strive to become a better painter and modeller (can you say that? modeller? oh well...).

camera really sucked the colours out of it though, will have to get a better pic tomorrow.

Out of my league to offer advice already, but I'll pass along a comment. I don't recall where I read it, but once saw that one goal of a mini painter was to make the figure look as though it was a two dimensional painting rather than a three dimensional object. Using that to measure the figure, I was actually blown away how un-3D it appeared. And this is a compliment, mind you.

I was going for a painting like quality by giving the mini some not so smooth blends sort of. might have worked then haha

not too happy with his right arm, might redo it.

in a bid to see if horrible minis can get a new life with a new style of painting i shall paint this second ed gretchin....


the weather has been amazing here today so ive spent most of the day outside with my son.

Peer preassure sure does work.

Felt like getting my first Hell Dorado mini finished today (failed of course, but I'm close).
It's a Hell Dorado Demon Lemure, and all that's really left is his stitching, his horns and the base.
Still debating weather or not he should get blodied blades and some splatter on his body, any input?

I haven't had the time to upload yesterday's progress, so now I'm doing it.
On monday I based all models and did some final tweaks (all finished Necromunda models).

And now I pulled a duplicate model from my bitz box and thought that he can act as my trial model for the color scheme (hence all the mould lines, only testing the colors on him).

actually im currently doing my masters in social anthropology as well as a second bachelors in forensic psychology, on top of this i work extra as an orderly at a home for alzheimers patients, have a 4.5 year old son (single dad) and play bass in a band.

there really isnt enough hours in one day i know haha

i would have posted these yesterday but females and sleep got in the way, i know im a bad hobbyist.

i just picked up where i left off before the fang this weekend and completed some extra stuff on my first beastman for my chaos horde (tamurkhan is on my shelf and i shall paint him, just you wait)

im going for a less cartoony look than gw but not really real either, sort of just nice or something.

so, heres an update as to what is going on for me.

i recently found a mini from my fav game and producer, its razheem the insane from confrontation, this i took as a sign from Dio to try my hand at nmm once again for the first time in a long while, thoughts? its not nearly done but the armour plates will all have the same colour. i might add some in some gold or bronze though just to break it up. the horses helm is not supposed to be metal per se, its supposed to be off white.

gave this little fella some more paint

basecoated this failcast version of this mini, third version i have recieved and still horrible with unrelenting warping and enormous amounts of insanely big bubbles...

gave the wormqueen some shading

painted a few extra gems on this guy as well as adding some more colours

and finally a quick pic of whats up and coming....

and thats not even my display cabinet for armies..... just singles and some unit etc.

comments? criticism? something???

sure they are, mostly because theyre harder to find in mint condition than the Bonnie Andersson mini....

Females are, and due to complications with mine I'll be short on updates at least for a week. But I'll make up for it as soon as I can bare to paint more.
