Tyranid Invasion Diorama

Lord of Edoras

Hi,

I am making a 40k diorama and need some feedback on my conversions. It's a Tyranid Hunter converted from a plastic Terminator. The idea is that he's on a patrol A remote area of a planet and discovers a Tyranid infestation. Before he could report his discovery, many creatures swarm at him out of the ground. These are some of the first 40k minis that I'm painting, and I don't know the lore of space marines very well, so if anyone could give me suggestions on colour schemes or themes, that would be awesome!

Like the idea, thinking that Ultra Marines would be the way to go.
Not sure that only one marine would be running around by himself, maybe add a couple more battle bothers watching his back?
Also the head on the shoulder, Your covering the Crux Termis <sp> Holy symbol, pieces of the Emperor's armor etc. etc. with an "unclean" alien skull, sounds ify to me. If you do keep it you may wish to consider hollowing it out a bit to keep it from sticking out (streaming lining if you wish  )

Where you thinking a wall/wave of nasty things ready to break over this poor guy?

While it would be unlikely to have a terminator on his own, a battle brother would be much more likely (source for this would be Brothers of the Snake) however it could happen, I agree that an Ultramine Tyrannic War Vet would suit very well the situation you described as they are specialist Nid hunters which in itself could explain the solo terminator. with the decoration of victory my suggestion would be move the Nid head to where the small shoulder shield is as if he is using it as not only a trophy but as a replacement for some battle damage he may have received from fighting said Nids.

colourwise, ultramarines (tyranic war veterans) or deathwatch (inquisitorial alien hunting space marines... plain black if you're wondering)

but the nice thing about space marines is that you can paint them in any colour (combination) you like....

overal a good conversion i'd say, there's just one thing that bugs me, the stormbolter... actualy the shot coming out of it....
it looks more like a blast of flame you'd see from a flamer... nothing wrong with that, just strange to see it coming from a stormbolter....
if i were you, i'd probably switch the flash for a clear plastic tube or something with the back of the tyranid exploding :D
creating the illusion of distance between the nid and the marine, while still linking them together

or you could head the other way, and replace the stormbolter with a flamer......

just my two cents, which always turn out to be longer than i originally thought :p

oh yeah... and trim the aliens adorning the marine, they stick out way too much...
