Looks like a good start, you have gotten colors onto the correct parts, could you tell us what you have done, so we can help further? I am thinking some washes will help the white parts. Also, what color did you prime with? Keep at it, posting here, and asking for the critique is a big step towards improving.

Thank you all for the replies. I primed with Reaper white primer. I was wondering what kind of washes would be great for the white. In the previous photo I had started applying the purple in layers hoping to get a lighter purple on top and a darker purple on the bottom. I do believe for each model the light source can vary from photo.

Here is the same model as above but with mottling I believe? I drybrushed various hues and am going for a martian style base.

nice to see another nid player!

good combo, I guess you aim for Hive Fleet Leviathan? :)
I'm kinda new myself, but I'd say get either a wash called "gryphonne sephia" or for a more purple look the wash I use myself (druchii violet) (very thinned on white or it can ruin the effect)
a wash adds alot more contrast to your models and shade etc.
try it, you wont regret it I watched this vid when I was totally new ^^

also, you could either hightlight the edges of the carapace with purple and some white mix

good luck mate! :)

Thank you for your comment. I myself am slowly am starting out. I still need to get the rule book. My main problem is no players near me. The nearest games workshop is about an hour away. So I get things months at a time. Hive fleet Leviathan it is then lol. I primarly dont use washes but thank you for the advice. Im going to look into it thank you for the vid. That is my next goal to get the high lights next. Thank you for your advice.
