Tyranid Swarm Army Trouble

One thing I have always liked about tyranids is the many uses that the models can be put to. Hormagaunts have always doubled as monsters or demons in my D&D games. With the release of the new carnifex I thought it was high time that I start an official 40k swarm army. Despite my loathing of GW marketing policies (retail price is double what the hobby shops pay for the models) I shelled out the money for a battle-force box of tyranids. My problem now is that I want an army that makes my opponent break down and cry at the sheer numbers he is facing, but I have not been able to solve the problem of finding suitable anti-tank units that fit my theme and having adaquate synapse coverage with the new rules. I want to assemble the nids\' I got but won\'t until I know what I need. Any suggestions are welcome.

Lots of fast models with rending claws -- genestealers, f.ex. Once they start ripping into armor, nothing can stand in their way.

For synapse coverage, use cheap warriors.

Throw lots of gaunts with the \"without number\" option at enemy units with powerful ranged weapons to keep them tied up.

yeh but.... rendering claws cost more points.... the way i see it (and how my army list will work out)

sything talons and lots of them and give th warriors wings... gaunts and ravener and the such can already move pretty far.... this leaves the loly warriors behind.. give em wings they can keep up.. this solves synapse problem... carnifex with extended carapace and sything talons is more then enough for tanks once you get it down there... genestealers can work well if used properly...personaly i had an old army list....

(never made this army but plan on eventualy getting this much in the LONG run)

2X hive tyrant wings sything talon sything talon extended carapace

3x brood 9 winged warriors sything talon sything talon extended carapace

4x brood 32 gaunts (slashing kind)

2x brood 12 \'stealer

3x brood 32 gargoyal (prolly go ravener in the new army)

1 carny sything talons extended

1 carn sything barbed strangler and extended

1 brood of 3 zoanthrope lol
