hey CMON...

after a nine month break to move to Mexico, and get my surf shop runnin' smoothly(check out the new website: http://www.quiverito.com/ ), i'm back with a new mini...
it takes a while to get back in the swing of slappin' paint, and i really feel rusty...
my photography has definitely taken a step backward...

for this commission i was asked to use the studio scheme, and take it to the next level...
not sure if i pulled it off, but the addition of a Voodoworx.UK display base definitely helps the presentation...
anyway, here he is, giant hammers and all, with a face only a mother could love...

Really spiffy! Congrats on getting back to painting, and more congrats for getting your shop up and running. Sounds like you've got an amazing life.

thanks guys...

@Funnymouth: we don't do anything that other shops and rental stands in the village do...
just high-end surfboards, and then we can send other people some business, and not be seen as the white folks who try to take food off the locals' table...

@Freak: that was a long hiatus...
let's hope that never happens again....
it's really frustrating to be too tired, injured, or distracted to paint...

@Vikey: thanks...
things are going very well, and i couldn't be happier...
being out in the water every day, improving my surfing in a town with more than a handfull of pro surfers, has got me in great shape (both mentally and physically)...
by the time i hit 40, in 3 years, i will be in the best shape of my life...
fitter, and surfing better, even than i was in high school...

hopefully my next commission will see my work take another leap forward as well...

cheers

all the more reason to carry the premium skim boards - they aren't just wood planks anymore.
sounds amazing though, im green with envy.

> i like the copper effect in the center of the clubs. adds a lot to the weapons.

@funnymouth: unfortunately, the two shops on the opposite corners carry skimboards and boogieboards...
i'm a fan of every kind of board, but we've decided to specialize in just the one area...

the other day the shop up the street had one of their new skimboards get dinged up, and then just after it was fixed the next morning, a mini-van sideswiped the sawhorses and slammed the board to the ground...
needless to say, the driver reached for his wallet right quick...

@freak: nothing too serious as far as injuries, just a lot of little ones each week, and it all adds up...
i've been lucky not to slice up my hands on the reef too often, mostly my feet and knees have taken the punishment...
pain makes it hard to concentrate on the painting, especially after a few hours of fixing boards (so much sanding by hand on the resin), sliced up fingers don't help either...
i've gotten better at not getting hurt, but i did have my first encounter with sea urchin spines the other day...
hurts so bad, and they are such a bitch to cut out...

i'm definitely getting back into the groove, and i'm finally in the flow of painting from 8 to midnight everyday...
feels good:)...

cheers

Nice mini!

Glad to hear your literally living your dream. Not enough people get to, and it's sounds like you've really taken the leap and embraced it full on. I tip my hat sir! Enjoy it all, everyday. Take care amigo!
