Uh, matt varnish?

Well, recently I figured that I should be varnishing the minis I paint, BUT I\'m having a hard time finding a decent varnish that DOESN\'T make it shine like a pearl. So well, I got myself a spray can with a matt varnish of the brand Ghiant (leik wtf?), and a brush-on from Pactra.
Well they worked good... no. Both are said to be matt (the brush-on says flat though, saw a lil quarrel on that) but shine like, well heaven. And then I got the GW sealer spray thingy, which is said to get a quite matt finish if you spray very lightly.

Well, all of \'em gets more or less gloss to me, so is it something I am doing? Could I do something during the drying process to make it more matt?

Did you shake the stuff like crazy? The matte compound resides at the bottom and takes ALOT of skaing to agitate it. Iv put a bit of metal into my Humbrol stuff.

The GW one is not matte but satin (i.e. semi-gloss), so it\'s not supposed to be matte. Other matte varnishes may vary in flatness, but should, as Matty said, be well shaken (and I mean well shaken), regardless of wether it\'s brush-on or spray. Humbrol\'s is good and Testor\'s Dullcoat as well. I use Dullcoat spray and it\'s dead flat (after shaking the living crap out of it... )!

Oh, thanks guys, I\'ll try shaking the crap outta it and see if it gets better then Now off to gluing some snotters on my giant xD

Oh and, Metal as in metallic dust or as in a small ball or something like in a can?

Small ball or a chunk of sprue or model or something. Iv got half a cut off from a slotta base tab.

Well thanks again, it worked wonders with the brush-on I did put a lil metal piece in it too, seemed to work fine.
