Back to the main topic: When I started work here in the US, I installed my favorite screensaver, which is just looping through poster ads for a French lingerie line. All very stylish, no unacceptable body parts exposed, beautiful black and white photography. Why, those posters were on display in the streets back home. Well, I had to remove it from my computer here because it was not politically correct. No one cited bad taste, it was just too risque for this country.
Yes, I would agree that Americans are waaay too conservative and should do something about their unhealthy fear of skin. I say unhealthy because that was the exact cause of the original witch hunt: too much repression of natural instincts by ultra-orthodox prudishness (does that word exist?) lead to some people blowing a fuse and dancing naked in the moonlight. which branded then as witches even though they were just having a bit of fun.
Sometimes accepting the animal in you is a good psychological habit.
But of course, in those states where Darwin is not taught at school because the theory does not fit religious principles, it might be a difficult thing to do...

Something that shocked me was the way censorship is made...
While browsing trough the local comic/game store\'s \"Previews\" (for the non-comics addicted - it\'s basically a catalogue with the new releases) I found a picture from an Art Book with the works of Frank Frazetta (sp?). The picture was barely 0,5\"x0,5\" and depicted some female centaurs... now, the she-centaurs (I knew how the original picture looked like) were naked...
Even tough their breasts were the size of a 25mm model\'s eyes (judging the size of things by comparing them to a model is another sign of Figmentia, right? their nipples would be the size of a spec of dust... they were censored with a black box over them!!!
Adding insult to injury, a few pages ahead there was this picture of Chastity (a comic book character) tied to some sort of wheel in a true bondage way, legs apart, and with a demon next to her looking quite interested... but, as she had some thin strips of \"cloth\" covering both her nipples and her \"lower section\", there was no censorship whatsoever...
It was quite a laugh around here...lol

Yeah, I belive Angela (Saxonangel) got outsed by Ebay for selling Chronopia blade maindens because they were \"Sexual\"... And yet, I looked up hundreds more listings for things that were even more blatantly sexual.. Oh, well...
I definatly think it\'s a culture thing, like in Japanese anime: you can show a women\'s breasts but it\'s disrepectful to show thier nipples, hence all the animes that show nudity (Tenchi\'s a good one..) have no nipples unless they are in a sexual situation.. Strange, but it makes sense in a way!

Oh, I agree, pollitical correctness and censorship are awful. I\'m surprised that we don\'t have these people jumping through the windows in an art class i go to, as we have nude models. Seems silly that you\'re not allowed even to be nude in public, even the Canadians just above us are more trusting, friendly, and open minded than us. bah! I\'m moving to Canada I\'m counting on Jarrett, Owen, and all our nothern CMONers putting up with me for awhile

I really can\'t understand why the most natural state we can be in (nudity) and one of the most natural things we can do (sex) is associated with badness and dirtyness and seen as something to be hidden. Its insane, totally illogical, yah lets make everyone feel really bad for having natural urges, way to go society :flame:
Not to mention the blatant discrimination against women who can\'t go around topless, when I can walk down the street with nary a thing on above the waist. Lets have some equality I say (ok maybe thats just wishful thinking )

If there was less bigotry surrounding the issue, there would be less exploitation of the female image that creates a lot of discomfort for pretty girls walking in the street.
It\'s a bit like the legalization of marijuana, as long as you keep it illegal, you create interest in it. And you also create the underground trade and distribution which makes the whole place more dangerous.
