UK Games Day 2006 get together mini

This idea initialy came from Mike\'s (Dragonsreach) \"Painters Gathering\" thread.

For UK Games Day 2006, we\'ve thought of a twist. Instead of painting the exact same mini, each participant would paint a mini of a squad or a regiment. Mike suggested something about what we might do with the minis after, but before announcing it, we have to check if it can be arranged.

The theme of the squad/regiment will be picked once everybody has signed up. Sign ups end in two weeks time (Saturday, July 1st).

To sign up, just copy the list of paticipants and add your user name :

I don\'t think I\'ll have time. I\'m planning on painting 3-5 minis to that I\'ve already chosen to get up to spped before I start work on my GD projects (**censored**) lol

Today is 17th June 2006, Gamesday is 24th September that\'s 99 days in which to paint a little.

Besides who said it had to be finished we might use GD as a WIP comparison point and have a completion shortly thereafter.

But it depends on how many we get to \"Sign up\".

I\'m sorry if I\'m a killjoy but GD enries hve to be painted by one person example a aquad cannot be painted by more than one person. But then again I may have misunderstood in which case good luck.

I don\'t have much painting time. But if it is for a good cause I will devote time to this.

I\'m not quite clear on whats to be done, I understand that its 1 mini as part of a regiment but whats it for and etc.

@squig hunter : These are not GD entries and may not even be GW minis. The aim is to be able to hold in one\'s hand other peoples minis (an almost impossible task at a GD) and see first hand how the others came out.

@krom1415 : In deed, if you want to participate, you\'d have to paint only one mini that would be part of the squad/regiment. As for what I hinted as to what the squad/regiment would become, I\'m sorry but I can\'t say yet because I\'m waiting for somebody\'s answer (I don\'t want to promiss what might not happen yet ). If it shouldn\'t work then we could figure something else (like for example randomly exchange the minis among the participants; just a thought).

Mike and I thought that in the case there where a lot of people, we could do 2 units or more and/or have backup painters (life happens, so it\'s perfectly understandable that things get in the way as long as you warn in advance; but like generulpoleaxe said, this shouldn\'t take too long either, it\'s really for fun).

@james sequeira : The idea was to do it for the meet up at the GD. I don\'t see anything wrong with sending it to somebody who\'s going to the GD, but I wouldn\'t want the operation to become too big either (precedents of this type have been done here, and it can quickly become time consuming for the organisers). Let\'s say that if you are the only one in this case then you can send it to me, or Mike if he\'s OK with that (him being in England would make things easier for the mini to get there safely), or to somebody who\'s coming and meeting up with the group. If too many people are in your case, then you and them would do reserve minis. Does that sound fair enough?

@Others : Great, we can now do a 10 man squad! In a few days to come, Mike and I will be discussing ideas of the theme. I hope we\'ll be able to find something both simple to paint and find, and stimulating for all. Stay tuned for more.

@darkartminiatures : it\'s not fully booked, some squads and regiments have more than 10 troops, and we might do a second unit if there are enough people . All you have to do is copy the list of people and add you name if you see this reply.
