Darklord - yep hopefully this will be the first of many, but we want to see how this one goes before we commit our time. We hope to have a meet at Gamesday this year.
Demonheald has it just about spot on, the background to this was a group of painters on their way back from Gamesday all wanting to improve and we became Team Harrow, based around the GW shop, this has worked well for us and the least expierenced member has come on so far in a year it started us thinking. After some of the team went to Spain GD this year, they returned with an idea that we could improve the painting within the UK. But rather than have a forum, so many of those already, that some kind of team structure where groups of people would come together and become teams themselves and give each other support by explaining and showing techniques they have used and being more of a social network for each other. So we did some more work, asked lots of painters we knew and lots of people said \'Great idea....why hasn\'t it been done before?\' Which is why we decided to give it a try.
The support from Brian Aderson of Warhammer World has been fantastic, he has been so supportive. Without their support giving us part of the hall to put this on and access to the lecture hall as well it would never have happened. As we have said we are a non-profit organisation, we have paid for the website, our travel to Nottingham for meetings, our time. But all we want in return is people to enjoy themselves painting to share what they know and put the UK back on top of that painting map.
We have ideas on what we would like to see, but no one gave us the positions of overseers and there is no way we want to impose anything on anyone. We shall ask those attending what they think, how can we improve it all. Hope that hasn\'t bored you all.
Freak- no times are set apprently he likes sculpting all day anyway, but I am well happy with the person doing this for us. He\'s very well known and very very good...but you\'ll have to wait till next week for who it is!
Demonsreach makes the point this is just the start, we hope that people will go away and start up their own groups simular to ours, in their areas and enjoy the fact that painting doesn\'t have to be one person hiding away in a spare room somwhere. Get the constructive critisim that helps everyone improve their work. After all it worked for us so why can\'t it work for others. Its more a social event to introduce people to each other and hopefully make some new friends.
And maybe we can have a local Platoon Britannica meeting at Fiasco too
