We\'re going to be having a chat with WHW this week to try and pencil in the next national event, hopefully December some time.
Nice to here that this is going to be a 6 monthly ish event Ben :D
Unfortunately due to work I am going to be unable to make it to any events come September for a year however hopefully after that I should have lots of new work to display :D

I think keeping at GW WW is a good idea as it is central for a lot of people being onlt a 2 1/2 hour ish drive up from Wales and London along with the other benefits of having it at WW and subject to how GW feel about it of course :D

Can\'t wait until I can attend the next one :D

Sheffield town centre games workshop is quite big compared to Meadowhall which is like a postage stamp, WW is a good idea again but do we not want to leave that for the big get togethers and try and get something going more regular somewhere else?

The Battle Bunker would have been OK its the old GW gaming centre or quite close to it would ahve been perfect, as for emporium in town its quite pokey to be honest and pac ked with stock.

Ifyou want to meet in a shop GW sheffield centre is better, unless we decide to move slightly more north to leeds or somewhere, I was perhaps thinking of a community centre or a pub with a large room

I wasn\'t able to attend this event due to already arranging participation in GD Germany.

I\'d love to get together with other painters and chat about the hobby, perhaps learna thing or too ;) Sheffield would be better for me (or closer) but i am flexible so leeds i guess would be ok too.

how about GW manchester arndale store? its a big store, its very modeler orientated, its right next to the train station, the center has tons of parking, the manager is former eavy metal and i know he is quite happy to support this type of event

i think from a logistical point of view we need to look at wether we will \'split up\' the areas, rather than trying to get somewhere for everyone, we can localise it more. thats why i thought leeds, it is quite central to a lot of the north but too far for others further south but maybe another \'area\' would be better for them. so say, leeds for the north, luton for south east, bath for south west, that sort of thing,

Leeds GW is a reasonable size, but i think they\'d be stricter on the no-nongw stuff.

Leeds store also has two very good painters on staff, but the store is seething on a weekend so not much space free.

Wakefield GW (between Leeds and Sheffield) still has an upstairs gaming area that they use on special occasions.

i would say we may be better off finding an independent venues, simply because of the variety of mini manufactures on show, some GW\'s may have issues with it, although if people can find a GW thats happy with that then i cant see many venues that would be better suited

no for the south east its gotta me the center of the world London
Its probably best to split the south in two and have a South East venue and a South West venue.
If it was in London chances are any venue that isn\'t free will cost a fortune and parking is another issue in London

I have to agree, with a small proviso.
Getting an independant place to host a gathering might end up having to cost for hireage.
Community centres are Ok they are usually cheap(ish), Hotels can be expensive (Ok Bleeding Expensive in big cities) and we also have to consider the logistics of how to get there, what transport options are available? (Ditto Parking)

Personally if there was to be a hired venue I would not have a great problem in paying a small fee to cover the costs.
But as generulpoleaxe knows we tried to cost a decent venue in Bolton in order to get Jeremie Bonamont Treboul over and we were looking at a rough cost close to £70 per head to break even on the room hire without considering Jeremies expenses.

If anyone fancies Leeds there are a couple of options really...
one is a Pub... The hogshead in Leeds has an upstairs area that they hire out for events .. but i it\'s a Sunday and there ain\'t no football the missus works there and they will let us have the room for free.. Or Again Sudays.. The local Gaming Club Leeds Nightowls has a decent premises in headingley and again they have said if ever I want to use it for a gathering let them know up frot and they will be only too happy to help... (will also help some of their gamers pick up a bit of painting..) ad it\'s better for parking I think.

don\'t forget there is also Fiasco coming up.. between now and GD I\'m pretty full up at weekends but I\'m sure somewhere along the line we can sort something....
