Ultra Forge Plague Demon

This is a huge model, and fun to paint. I have NO IDEA what the \"boom mic\" effect on the pic is, but this is my fist succesful montage! Hooray! Fire Away on the model too!

And the link action....

Thanks for looking, and all comments appreciated. This mini was more of an endurance contest then anything. Dropped and broken twice, stripped once, and one of those figs you just wish you could spend a year painting. Sadly I had to get it done for a comp on WAMP, but that does mean that it got finished as opposed to collecting dust with so, so many other projects.

Your pics are too small sir!

They need to be wider, as much of a nice montage it is. Good clean painting from what I see though ;)

More detailed shots are needed tbh, but like donga said looking very neat and clean, overall looks good. Though i think more could have been done with the metals and open wounds from what i can see

The pic is getting auto shrunk! Could it be too long for photo bucket? Help, help, I\'m being compressed! Here\'s the individual pics for more clarity...

I agree with you Cleezy, esp. about the metals! I also just hit a orad block on the wounds and wasn\'t sure what I wanted to do. ANyone got some good ideas for open wounds like these?

OK Scott, gonna give you some \"tough lovin\" here mate.

The metals on the arm are BLAND.
To be blunt they look as if you\'ve given them an even wash all over and left it at that.
Having seen the vast improvments you\'ve made over the last couple of years I know you can do so much better and \"knock the socks\" of this fella.
I\'d suggest that you consider the dirt and grime that a Plague Deamon infers and work on increasing the dirt and grime in the intersection where plates overlap.
Turn the model upside down and wash/glaze tones of Brown, Black Green & Purple into those intersections. That will help give greater emphasis on the Grimy, Dirty nature of the thing.
Where the rivits are I suggest stippling over each rivit with VMC Burnt Umber, then start to make a trail (Tadpole shaped-head uppermost) with very thin VMC Mahogony Brown, then a final thin circle around each one with VMC Red Leather.

Great tips Mike! Very true about the metal. I put some effort into them, but I seem to undo it when I go back and fix things up, and in this case you\'re bang on about washing it up and leaving it at that in the end.

Good idear about the muck on the armor! Thanks for that!

Nothing wrong with tough love, that\'s how improvements are made. Thanks again!

Thanks for those bigger pics Scott,

Now.... I am with DR on the bland metals especially the arm guard, I think adding to the deepest recesses would give that dirty/grimy feel, a good mixture of colours like DR mentioned.

As well as this though I would bring the highlights up on the plating more, it all looks pretty much one colour and wash.

As for the wounds maybe try mixing some red and brown inks with some gloss varnish or PVA to get the blood slick look. But work with the colours maybe a yellowish/green for puss etc.

When i had my car crash my arm pussed a yellow/orange fluid so maybe something like that, the choices are pretty much endless and all fit in with this figures imagery.

Maybe highlight the pustules further to show the strain on the skin. Another key part for me are the horn like areas, the bits in his thigh and those on his head look like some extra work could be done (more so those on the thigh though)

I think the silver of the scythe is quite nice though the silver on the bracelets and chain is very sub par for yourself.

As is the green cloth area, it looks very flat.

Still seeing yours painted has made me really want to buy this figure lol

Well I quite like the metals on the arm, but I would agree a bit of blue or green or blue/green oxidation could help it \'pop\' (just a little bit).
