Ultramarines or Crimson Fists?

I\'m doing a conversion for games day and I can\'t deceide which chapter.

I want to paint his power fist red, and do dark blue armour, which suggests fists, but I like the Ultramarines and will be re-doing my Ultramarine army in dark blue.
I need to deceide which chapter symbols to sculpt on.

Or maybe I could leave off chapter symbols alltogether?

decisions decisions

any suggestions? ???

A difficult question if you ask me. Let´s consider this from all sides:
You want to sculpt/convert - the U- symbol is a lot easier to sculpt then the fist, and the range of Ultramarine - specific bits you could use is heigher.
You want `em blue - the ultramarines have just recently, recieved a new, slightly changed colorcheme - see http://uk.games-workshop.com/news/uk/previews/Warhammer40k/default.htm (just click next to see it)

A the Ultras are one of the most popular chapters and will be in the next boxed set, ít would be the logical consequence to make an Ultramarine.
+ They´re just cool!
hope this helps.

Crimson Fists.. they\'re plainly the coolest chapter :) The scheme\'s just so good.. and fitting for SM. Anyways, if you do CF.. remember to have both his fists red if it\'s a veteran or hero.

hmmm...

Well, usually I\'d recommend Crimson Fists, as the crimson nicely offsets the blue. However, the impending new GW Ultramarine army has me all excited for them, and the Ancient Rome influence is a great theme for conversions. I\'d go with ultra :)

Damn, this isn\'t helping, you\'re as divided as I am lol

I\'m thinking that actually sculpting a u symbol will be harder than the fist, as I\'m crap at curves.

I think I need to detach myself from it and think of it purely as a display piece, then I can just go with the fists, I think the red will enable me to show off my blending well and really make it pop.

So if I go for fists I need a banner, something simple but striking with not too complicated freehand, any ideas? I\'d quite like to get a dragon in there somewhere.

oooh, i just had a great idea for a 3d shoulder pad.

Go crimson fists, and as for a banner, i think a dragon spiralling round the fist and comeing down over the top, wings spread...

hang on, i\'ll draw a pic...

Thanks bro! This is fast becoming one of my favorite armies. I like the brighter look over the Evil armies I\'ve painted.

Captain Aegis is on CMON.

Have you seen the new Veterans?

I wonder if those are the marines mark harrison said he was working on last year.

They look very nice, would be perfect for my LotD.

Go ahead and paint he power fist red, then make up some fluff about it being a honor mark of some sort.
I had some Marines that I had painted green, but the veterans feet , calf armor, and kneepads were red. The fluff was that during the horus heresy the marines had killed so many heretics they had to wade through their blood, and the veterans painted their armor this way as an honor.

Easily confused with LatD, the Lost and the Damned chaos guys.

LotD were first in WD 98 (or thereabouts) just when I was starting, the background and imagery has appealed ever since.
