Undead questions

The Zombie Survival Guide Thread got me thinking about some silly questions.

If a zombie keeps rotting, does it eventually become a skeleton?

Which undead critter freaks you out the most?

Mine would have to be the Penangalan from the old Fiend Folio. What\'s scarier than a flying disembodied vampiric head with attached entrails that wrap around the victim?

Maybe if it doesn\'t eat, it will eventually rot away to nothing.

That Penangalan does sound horrible. I can\'t offhand think of anything that would be worse, except the obligatory remark of it having the face of someone you really don\'t like or want to make fun of.

Yes, Roger, you are correct. Just instead of eating brains they eat you out of house and home...;)

The scariest undead critter I can think of: Courtney Love.

As I understand zombies, they magically replenish their rotting flesh through
means unknown. Skeletons are created somewhat differently, though in the D&D
setting, it\'s the same spell, just with different types of remains.

Depends on the type of zombie. If its magical such as those seen in Warhammer then yes it will rot away to a skeleton and keep on going. If is scientific such as those in X of the Dead or Resident Evil then they\'re keep on going until the muscles and ligaments that allow them to move rot away at which point they\'ll just lie there, moaning and snapping at passersby until eventually it rots entirely.

As for scariest Undead, it has to be the Others/Wights from A Song of Ice and Fire. The description of them stalking the fleeing Nights Watch is particularly chilling.

The best zombie/undead thingys Iv ever read/seen are the vampires from S. King\'s Salem\'s Lot. (The book)

The were just freaky when he described them.

Don\'t forget the skeletal Olsen twin.

As far as scary undead in film, how about the zombie kid in Pet Sematary, vampire kid in Salem\'s Lot, and dead baby crawling on the ceiling in Trainspotting? Yikes!

Is a \"lich\" undead? I always found the idea of someone so obsessed with magical power that their physical body would crumble around them, leaving only a skeletal form animated by pure evil will, pretty freaky.
