Unit fillers

I am planning on making some interesting unit fillers for my new Vampire Counts army. Crypts, tombstones, a mini vampire hunter diarama that kind of thing. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some finished items. I am really looking at how big they are and how big is too big. At the moment a proper crypt is going to be about nine models. Is that too much?

I think you\'re asking if you could replace Rank and File models with some diorama pieces etc. Correct?

The rule states somewhere that you\'re unit needs to have at least 50% representation of their WYSIWYG status for weapons and such, but I\'m not sure officially what the deal is for representing models with something elese, probably the same.

My personal opinion is that no matter how cool it looks, I still want to see warhammer figures when I am playing warhammer. Why settle? Shawn has linked up some pretty cool terrain pieces that could be even cooler with ghouls and stuff leaping about them, I think.

Ask around your local group and see what they would do. I was in Calgray for a tourny not that long ago and the judges let a guy proxy an all mounted hobgoblin army and use it as a dark elf army, so local rules may vary.

Normally I find myself agreeing with you. But not now.

I think if it\'s cleverly done and they tell you what it is, I\'m all for it. My best friend has done 3 different theme armies, 2 of them for Warhammer Fantasy.

His earlier being a Wood Elf army as Sea Elves. Using a different manufacturer to create \"seahorses\" for his knights. Fantastic!

His current project is doing a Vampire Counts army with a Mardi Gras/Day of the Dead theme.

He\'s using all different manufacturers and has some truly great ideas he\'s implemented.

Although I personally have a hard time substituting non-GW minis in my army.
Need to work on that...

Is the coffin supposed to be a vampire?

Stick his legs out the bottom, maybe an arm out the side. Agorophobic vampire...

Disagree? With ME? The NERVE of some people!

My feelings are from competitive play standards. I have actually, no guff, lost tournies because of lack of WYSYWIG in one instance, and in another because of mass army proxie. There is nothing more frustrating than playing a game against someone and not having the foggiest clue what the models are supposed to represent in game terms.

I\'m not saying themed armies aren\'t cool, or not to make them, but be prepared to have then DQ\'d from tournies or have some awkward moments explaining that model x is really representing stat line y.

That\'s all. It\'s a great idea but don\'t sacrifice visual wargame representation entirely with artistic license. That\'s my view, for what it\'s worth.

Pimp away proudly, Shawn. =)

In fact... let me help. I bought some of your muzzle flashes last night. Can\'t wait to get them in!

More on target:
Hirst Arts has a grave mold. Could come up with some useful stuff using that if you are willing to dive into casting.
