I got this today and thought I should share. It made me laugh.

United We Stand!!!

A Soldier from the United States Army was attending some college
courses, between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and
Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed
atheist and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to
the ceiling and flatly stated, \"God, if you are real, then I want you to
knock
me off this platform. I\'ll give you exactly 15 minutes.\" The lecture
room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the
professor proclaimed, \"Here I am God. I\'m still waiting.\"

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Soldier got out of
his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him
off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Soldier went back to
his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and
stunned and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the
Soldier and asked, \"What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do
that?\"

The Soldier calmly replied, \"God was too busy today protecting America\'s
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like
an
asshole. ...............So, He sent me.\"

Actually Zaphod, I was employing a modicum of sarcasm here. I figure I\'ve done more since mid 04 to support the troops than anyone whos been sending spam of this type ever thought of doing - kinda like the argument I had with an asshat back in the states about how supportive he was (flag and sticker on car) versus how supportive I was - nothing showing on car. He actually had the balls to tell me I was less of an American than he was because I didnt have the flag flying from my antenna. So I asked the asshat when the last time he was in Iraq was - and then showed him my passport with the entrance and exit stamps for Iraq. Kinda trumped his flag all to hell and gone when he realized I was doing direct support for the troops.

I like reading stuff like this. It brings out some interesting replies, so here is mine...

I have served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I am still a US Soldier stationed in Fort Bragg, NC and I don\'t care what any non-supporter has to say. I love America and I will answer the call of duty anytime, to go anywhere. I do this so the jackass that has something bad to say about the US Military doesn\'t have to against his will. I love America this much... if you don\'t like it then move to another country where you don\'t have a choice, freedom of speech, or people like my fellow soldiers who put their life on the line everyday for someone who doesn\'t appreciate it. We do it because we want to. Voluntary is the key word here; God bless America for that.

No offence to the soldiers, but the army sucks. i hate all the adverts, trying to make it look like a computer game. It\'s not. I will never support any wars, because they are all wrong.

As a veteran, I stand behind our boys 100% if the time. They are doing the job our govt. has told them to do.

Whether you agree with the current political situation or not, we have a system to change our elected leaders. Now many will try to spin it one way or another, it is all more of the same as it has been since the founding of our nation.

But one thing is true without debate. Our soldiers make possible for anyone to say anything. What you choose to say is entirely up to you. Just realize that there have been, are and will be men and women who will sacrifice a portion of their life or their life to give you the freedom to say and think what you want.


Just remember why you have the rights and freedoms that you do.

I only regret my military career was cut short because of a knee injury. But considering what all is going on right now, I consider myself lucky.

Big thanks to all the military members. Come safe after a job well done.

Nobody said wars were right Mistamick, neither is there any glamour. Sometimes theres no option left after the talks and politicings exausted.
Just remember, not only what Gar just said, but that many people gave their lives so you can live yours today in the society you do now.
And remember also, it\'s the world over and not a select few.
Theres no real heroes in war, just good men and women doing a job for your benifit.

Mick, you are certainly right. It is not a video game when people are trying there best to kill you. But remember that a lot of people gave a portion of their lives or more so you could make a bold statement like that.

I pray that you come of age in a world that no longer knows war, but the trends are pointing in the other direction.

I always \"support the troops\" but there is a line that must be drawn when supporting the troops is a disguise for justifying something that is morally wrong and somethign that should never have even began. Of course, most service folks are doing their jobs which is great, and this is why we should support them.

I do NOT support the war however...

i have a seious problem with things like this. why? because its black and white: support the war with no questions asked, or you hate the troops. its an attempt to polarize the issue and discredit anti-war protestors by making them seem un-american. bullsh!t. i cant stand the actions our country is taking in the name of peace and \"justice;\" creating a never ending war, stripping our freedoms destabalizing the middle east, killing civilians (the last iraqi estimate was in the ballparck of 50k), shock and awe...all of it. i love our troops though - they are my friends, and loved ones. every day i look up the news from ramadi (its never good) because im afraid some of my friends may have died. i hate this war because i care for them.

the original spam is crap too - and self defeating. i am certain jesus would not approve - what has the soldier demonstrated? that religious violence comes from man, not god.

@ electro - last i checked our rights got an asswhoopin via the patriot act; and get out if i dont agree? for all your talk of \"fighting fror freedom and democracy\" you dont seem to put much value in the ideals themselves. democracy for all! (as long as you agree with our policy )

Sadly, most people are rarely interested in actual doing anything tangible for causes. They are rarely proactive. They\'re just interested in making themselves feel better by writing meaningless parables or putting flag stickers on their car.

Or by bitching about it on forums. Like I just did!

I know i\'m just a 13 year old who knows nothing of what we\'re really talking about, but I think there are some pretty pointless excuses for wars, eg, George Bush was told by god to send soldiers in Iraq, and also, coincidently so was Tony Blair. What a brilliant reason!

actually the BBC reported on a study today that the figure was nearer 650k since the outbreak of gulf II..... Thats quite a number....
