Got test shots in today, everything looks great! Just need to make a couple of adjustments and mass production should begin shortly!

The survivors picture looks like you opened a bag of skittles. Makes me wish the zombies had a bit of color variety.

Is the lighting making the far right figure (Phil?) appear similar in colour to Zombies, I plan to eventually paint but was curious.

I was gonna ask for hi-res, but then read the comment on the KickStarter page...

But, is Amy's sword going to be straighter?

I had the same question about the sword, and the base of the grey survivor.

Some of these hard plastics retain a "memory" after casting that leads to warpage like this, that cannot always be corrected by the hot water/cold water procedure.

Yes, I have the same concern. I spent hours correcting the bases on my DOOM figs and a year later or so they were distorted again.

Other than that, it looks great!

Is it just me or is there an extra Walker figure in there?

I thought we were only getting 2 of each sex.

No there are 3 males and 2 females. But you're right tho, when they showed them on KS there were only 2 males. A much older picture on BGG shows that there are 3 though. The more the better!

Wondering if I'm going to do some sort of color-coding for types of zombies. I don't want to limit myself to asking everyone look the same, but I might code by skin color, or bases... Any ideas?

I've been thinking about this and at this point, my idea is to color the edge of the base (so, not the 'ground' of the base) in each survivor's colour displayed on their character sheet. Zombies will have a light grey outline. For more visibility, I think I should just let the ground of the base in plain black.

It might be the lighting, but these figures seem to be of a softer and more "bend-friendly" plastic like the one used in Flying Frog Productions. Has it been said which kind of plastic they will be using? Something to compare to.

I like your edge idea. I was planning on following the official colors for survivors, so recognition shouldn't be much of an issue, but zombies will probably get a blue edge for runners and a green edge for fatties, and so on - I do not want to get into the "Can't you see he's obviously running? No, that one is just bent plastic!" argument. Walkers will get either gray or black - I need to keep a color for turned survivors.

Edit: Check updates around #40 or so on KS. They have one about plastic - they said not the GW stuff.

Well, since the zombie apocalypse just hit [We were with some friends when the first siren began to wail, quickly followed by countless others. In less than an hour, everything changed: the television and the radio announced horrible news. We decided to take shelter at our neighbor's house which was much safer. We just had to cross the street. But THEY were already there... Tutorial flavor text] I was thinking about making zombies in different state of rottingness (?) we got so many zombies in the box that it's easy to take fresh zombies for the first missions, and take both kinds (newly turned and veteran zombies) for later missions. But I might be over thinking this and will maybe change my mind later.

As for coding the zombies, now that I think of it you're right, they definitely need some too. But in my case I would mix up the green edged zombie with Nick, and the blue edged zombie with Doug. I might test different levels of grey, after all the human eye can distinguish more than 450 levels of grey!

I wouldn't be surprised if the survivor's card colour matches their figure's plastic colour - so, you could either leave part of the plastic unpainted, or, as I'm possibly thinking of doing, paint a pre-dominant part of their clothing that colour.

Oh, and, someone said about painting the base black - I'm thinking of going with 'tarmac' bases and will be looking into Vallejo textured and stone-effect pastes between now and September to see if any of those will give a good tarmac finish.

But, then I might completely change my mind between now and then - like a thought I've just had would be to mount them into DS-style round-edged blank bases, and paint the figures whatever colours I feel like, but leave the figure-base showing, for colour-identification purposes.

I take it you've never tried leaving a base unpainted, then. The reason black/Tarmac bases work is that you can wipe or paint over easily to cover up any mistake. Even a grass/rock base will hide some mishaps throughout the texture. But a uniform yellow plastic will show any little mistake. It's not impossible, but it's probably easier to mix a matching tint and painting the edge with that.

Edit: Not to mention it makes priming a lot harder, stops you from using any type of spray paint, and as a co-Zombicide's just remarked, the paint/plastic contrast is quite ugly.

As for clothing colors, it seems so far that the official colors already do that to an extent - and having a dude in a red coat when the red card has them wearing black would annoy me a bit, so I wouldn't go any further. Painted survivors should be obvious anyway - "The girl from Kill Bill has the mini that looks like the girl from Kill Bill, get it?" Edges, though, I love that.

There's something call 'masking fluid' that solves all the above problems, except the last one, and yeah, I know the paint/plastic contrast is quite ugly - I'm not 100% decided on what I plan to do - my first thought, and I think my preferred option, was certainly to paint the mini's according to the 'official' artwork - I'll make up my mind when I get the actual minis and the actual artwork.

I do quite like the painted edge idea, so may well go that route myself, I was just throwing some alternate thoughts out there, because the more options one has the better, imo.

Since I have two full sets coming, I plan to paint one set per the artwork, then another set with alternate colors, so you could play multilples of the same "character" in the same game.
