greetings,
I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with getting Ups to other countries..I had a package to send to japan and had the worst time yet..given it was through a store that has Ups pick up and well know food chain((Krogers))..well all said the people at the store acted like they didnt want to help at one point..one girl there was trying to aid in the actual how to and then my sis informs me that one of the other employees comes forward and says oh the Ups doesnt ship to japan..my sis says according to their commercials..they do in 2 days((response was oh?..ok))then..the one that said it didnt go to japan goes well Ups has already picked up for the day..the other girl working there says no they havent..the pile of boxes are still there..sis says 3 feet of stacked boxes piles up in a corner..so they go back and forth for several moments..it sounded to me like either a. they didnt know what they were doing or B. didnt have the proper information to do it correctly..or c. a bit of both...after 30 minutes of listening to them bicker..talking to a ups rep on the phone..and finding out they cant ship\"used\" material..((im guessing the new sars scare))..sis decides to give up..believe me see ships alot of stuff thru our regular Ups man..and local Usps..having a ebay business..so I know its not a hassel here but to other countries its a nite mare..so to the ebayer and so forth make sure you know the limitations before you say yes we can ship that..it ended up being sent regular USPSA priority with no hassels what so ever..I have to wonder if FedExmay be a better route global?

I feel for you. I refuse to use UPS ever again after trying to deal with a \"UPS\" Store and shipping a piece of equipment. Got way over charged for packing, and majorly bent over the barrell on shipping fees. That\'s after I was given what was supposed to be a pretty solid quote based on a very accurate weight and destination. I either use USPS or Fed-ex now.

There\'s been a lot of discussion about whether GW is \"evil.\" Well my personal opinion here is that UPS is evil. I refuse to use them and always request people who send me stuff not to use them.
I worked for them briefly and my first college roomie (and former brother-in-law) worked for them for years. They treat their employees poorly.
You said delivery in the US is no problem, but that\'s not true at all. I\'ve had so many problems with their delivery I get mad :flame: just thinking about it. One time they sent the package back to the sender rather than hand it to me when I went there in person and it was not 5 feet in front of me. I ended up not getting my package because the guy couldn\'t be bothered to turn on the cash register (no cash involved he just had to record the pick-up). The package was from some company I\'d never heard of so I can only guess some relative is mad I never sent a thank-you note for their wedding present.
Unless you work for a company that allows you to receive private packages at work, you are screwed because they are only open during work hours and they won\'t let you schedule delivery.

UGH!! I feel for you, Mick. International shipping sucks! It\'s way more complicated than it seemingly should be. Your assessment of these poor people at Krogers was probably right.
It\'s not just UPS, though. The company I work for does a fair amount of international shipping and it doesn\'t seem to matter which company you use. FedEx, UPS, DHL, Airborne, Emery, they\'re all ridiculously complicated. I imagine it\'s got something to do with it being a transaction between 2 governments. I mean, ONE couuntries regulations are bad enough to comply with, but 2! :( Even shipping to Canada, our closest & friendliest neighbor (and NAFTA partner) is ridiculoualy complicated.
In the end, you probably made the right choice. Often times, the good old USPS is the easiest and least hassle for international shipping.
