US Army Colour Scheme

Hey, trying to nut out a good colour scheme for an Imperial Guard Regiment based on the 101st Airborne (Band of Brothers). Basically WWII US Army. But i can\'t find any good source material, even doing some searches on google, wiki etc. And i can\'t get my hands on a copy of band of brothers.
I am trying to stay within the games-workshop colour range because i have most of those colours already, but if i need another one then i have a supplier 5 mins away.
Can\'t really think on how or what colours to distinguish armour from clothes either, or whether i even should paint them different colours?
Any help or suggestions please?
Cheers,
Cam.

Speaking as a member of the US military, the main color of choice has been OD green. Better known as Olive Drab Green, the uniforms were soid OD green until the late 50\'s I think. It\'s a horrendous color, and is really used for just about everything. It\'s a little lighter in uniforms, like add some yellow to bring it down. It\'s maybe a dark angels green on equipment. Hope that helps.

See if you can get the Osprey or Squadron Signal or Dragon or any other of the books for Scale Modelers on the 101st and or 82nd Airborne.

cheers for quick response.. I\'m a games-workshop baby, so i don\'t really know anything about anything else. Are vallejo colours mixable with games-workshop (acrylic based)? Could i mix a vallejo colour wit a gw one for highlights/shading etc?

Yup, they are acrylic paints just like GW ones. They will mix with no problems.

You\'re right, there is a definate lack of Band of Brothers pics at a decent resolution online. This is about the best I could do.

And also in the National Geographic page

And the IMDB gallery

Check out Battlefront who make Flames of War, a world war ii wargame. They have a heap of stuff on painting WWII minis with GW paints, or you can ask in their forums.

I\'m pretty sure there is also a US army paint set for Flames of War (V paints as well).

Edit:
Some more info:
UPS01 US Paint Set
United States
6 Paints: Brown Violet, Khaki, US Tan Earth, Green Grey, Saddle Brown, US Field Drab

and a link to at least one seller (first one that came up on froogle.

For OD green GW\'s Catachan green is pretty damn close. I tend to like VGC yellow olive a bit better though.

For a more acurate scheme the FOW US paint set gives you almost all you need including a uniform paint guide, and they mix with gw no problem.

Early in the war US uniforms were primarily brown and kaki then later in the war went to the more recognizable green shades. Remember though a veteran ubit will have a mix and matched aproach as the GI\'s replace worn out grear with new.

Hope that helps you some.
