Use the right tools, or else...

Hi, y'all

Pretty shitty day with the hobby today, started by breaking an arm on my troll while removing it from the temporary base, and then ruining a couple weeks of work just at the last step...

I wanted to do a water base for my aquatic troll, troll was painted,, base was built, only thing left is to add the water effect. For this I used W-Sc. E-Z water, and let me tell you, it isn't the right product.
First it settles really fast, you'd think it's a good thing, but in this case, fast mean it actually hardens before it 'sinks' into position, leaving all kinds of unwanted shapes; plus, it's yellow.
I guess I'm the only one to blame, I tested on a small area before, noticing the problems but didn't realize how much it would affect the real thing; I was to lazy to order a decent product and wait a bit instead of ignoring my own warning.
And now my piece is shit; I guess I will fiddle it a bit and live with the result, but it sure won't be what I had in mind :(

 Sorry to hear that GreenOne :disapointed:

I have been considering of late picking up some clear gaming bases so as to avoid the usual basing trauma. Apparently Fenris do some.

Hope you manage to rescue him!

Cheers, B.

Thanks, for the kind support

@Tee: If it's not the one that come in small yellow pebbles, you might get away with it; make sure you try it and learn to control it beforehand tough.

Well, I heard water effects could be tricky to work with, I here concur. Probably should have been less greedy with it for a first try, water was a big part of the scene in this one.

Anyway, luckily I think I managed to save it; I reworked the ground area arount the blobbey mess; the rest of the shapes can be mistaken for ripples, which would actually be nice if they were wished for and controlled, hehe.
It's still very piss-colored, but it's a troll, so he doesn't have to be bathing in cristaline water.

Very unlickely I will use this again, except for making some gooey stuff; I'll buy some clear resin for the real thing.

Valleejo still water is pretty good for static water effects. I had problems with EZ water, too.
