User Names

Its Sunday and works slow so Im bored. I know time for some more useless trivia.

So I was wondering how people came up with thier user names. Some are pretty obvious but others may have an interesting history.

Mine for instance comes from a D&D character I had. His name was Ikon Bendaba who was a barbarian. On his first encounter with an ogre he cleaved it in two and earned the nickname \"Ogrebane\" I have been using this name in various forms for most of my characters ever since.

I also have another CMON ID. When I started a bretonnian army I wanted a suitable french sounding name for my general. My brother and I started a compant called ANGRI Artists (Both our names together) and I have been called Angri by some of my friends (not sure if thats a complement or a description of my nature) So anyway I Chose \"Angrierre\" for my general. I use to use this all the time till I started going to chat rooms. All the blokes thought I was a girl (Dont know how they got that Idea I mean Angri french name doest sound girly to me) so I dont use it as much anymore.

So anyway who else wants to tell all.

I am Swordwind because thats the name I use on Scorched Earth and then I used it on everything else after that.

I chose Swordwind cus I was reading an article about Bein-Tan craftworld when I had to register and so...

I also use Kithbandwarrior on the GW website cus they\'re the proffession I play as in WHFRP

Itchy

i\'m a paintball player... first time out i crawled on my belly threw a field of poison oak to win the game and was \"Itchy\" for a long time. Then the name became something of a gift from the friends because my \"itchy trigger finger\" always seemed to put my marker in line with the enemy. Then, i adopted the little blue rat (named Itchy) from the Simpson cartoons as my icon marking for my paintball cammies because in the Itchy and Scratchy cartoons he never gets caught and always wins, so it\'s part intimidation and part lucky icon for me. And the avatar i use is my dog, just because he\'s cool:D

... not that we shouldn\'t do it again, but if few people respond that might be why. I swear I replied to this question once before but don\'t seem to be in either...

\"No Such Agency\" is a nickname for the US National Security Agency, because it is supposedly so mysterious and covert that it barely even admits to its own existence.

I started using the name for online gaming after hearing about it on the X-Files. No other particular reason than that it sounded cool and kind of bad-ass. Now I just think it\'s funny, and it\'s too late to change it now anyway.

Um...
/cut and paste from previous thread

\"Quieti manes\" is old latin or greek for \"rustling through a dimly viewed eternity\" or something thereabouts. I immediately made a mage character on a MUD I played at the time and it\'s stuck with me ever since.

/end the pasties

Someone later posted a better translation and confirmed the language but I cant find that post now, must have been in another thread, I dunno, but there you have it. I just thought it sounded like a cool name and I was single at the time, go figure, playing MUDs...so it fit, or so I thought.

In my misspeent youth I was a user of the green weed. One day while indulging a friend said I looked like a red eyed monkey. I replied yes a red eyed reefer monkey. At the time we all thought this was a great joke (but I don\'t think we were really in a state to judge:D).

Any way I am a bit older and have kids and what not so decided I needed to drop the drugs reference. So I decided to assume the persona of an villain tryng to take over the world.

Now I am DrEvilmonki on pretty much every online place I go.

Geez that was a bit long!:D

cut and paste from June of 2003 (can that be right?)

Back in 800 AD, when I was stationed on the terrible Viking Ship with Leif Erickson and Eric the Red. I single handedly stopped an invasion from the Normans with only a toothpick and one of those horned hats. So, since then....

Actually the true origin is a little more mundane. Ok, a LOT more mundane.

I am a fan of the Minnesota Vikings (american Football to all you non-sports types)

Several years ago, I was trying to make a username for E-bay and viola. All the things like \'vikefan\' or \'govikings\' were taken, so I typed in Supervike. It worked, and now I use it as my \'online\' moniker. That is that.

I liked the first story better, so I am sticking with it.

Sithtainius is the name that I like to use for my Elven D&D characters when I play an fighter/knight type. and it doesn\'t have any Star Wars referance. I derived it from the doman of Lord Soth in Ravenloft, Sithicus. I had just read the novel with him in it and I thought for a bad guy he kicked ass and I wanted to use his name, so I just took the domain name and changed it a bit.

I also tend to use it as my name in most fantasy-based games and related things

Hey Vike I like your first story as well so I would definitely stick with it. In fact I may even steal it and use it as my own.
