Using GIMP

Does anyone have helpful tips on how to use the GIMP program? I am a cheapskate and have not purchased photoshop. Any assistance would be great.

What do you need to know in particular? I don\'t have it installed any more but I do remember it has levels colour adjustment and an unsharp mask in there, both of which can come in handy

Screw Photoshop. GIMP works fine (once you adjust to the unorthodox GUI) and is FREE! It still has some stability issues but if you do a three hour digital art marathon without saving your work you\'re asking for trouble with any software.

philologus: play with it for a bit. All the functions are available as a right-click menu in the picture pane. They are mostly the familiar ones from PS.

I hate GIMP.

The Mac style floating palettes are shite. Don\'t care if it\'s free, it still looks like a dyslexic chimp designed it...:D

Just got CS2.... Lovely it is:flip:

Just downloaded GIMP then, i am having a bit of \'difficulty\' with it too.
i might just have a play around with it then....Gimp that is!

so do i. it does the job (when it doesn\'t crash - mine was \'acquired\' as well so isn\'t of the best quality!)
