Using green stuff to join pieces?

I'm pretty new to putting together minis and whatnot, but i've been getting into it full swing again and starting to attempt some minor conversions. One question I have is... is it ok to use Green Stuff to join two pieces that do not fit well together? Seems like it isn't the best idea, but some blogs i've seen appear to do just that. They pin and fill with green stuff, skipping any glueing that i can tell. Is this ok to do, or will it result in some bad mojo later on?

If this is not a good idea, how do you go about getting a big gapped/wierd joint together where there isn't much contact for glue to hold? I try to pin everything i can, had too many "damn cat" moments with things breaking without pins...

Thanks for any help.

when you pin, you use the glue to hold the pins in place. the gs then fills the gap and stabilises it. if the gap is really big, epoxy works better than superglue as it's strong as hell and thick

Yeah, glue first (pinning if you can), then fill any gaps.

Incidentally I'd recommend trying one of the clay-like epoxies like MagicSculp for filling, since GS can be difficult to blend in to existing surfaces without a seam showing.
