Using oils for mini painting

I'm looking for advice for using oil paints to paint minis. I already use oil paints for weathering and some basic effects but would like to know what they would be like for painting flat open areas on things like space marine armour and detail work on faces in particular. I've seen some impressive results for skin tones using oil for example but i'm unsure what techniques are available/suitable.

Any oil based advice or links to good tutorials would be much appreciated

Granddad!
The Planet Figure Forums would be the place to ask, not that there aren't people here who use oils,
Yellow One has some good examples in his gallery

I've even had a bit of a play myself here;

the flesh on the torso was done in oils

and here;

the horse was done in oils

I use the Alkyds for their faster drying time, plus they are a bit cheaper than other oils

If you fancy having a go at it, you have to basecoat the area in a suitable color with your acrylics first.

I just found this over at TimeLines, another Historicals forum

hope some of that helps
