anyone ever use this stuff? Im thinkng about geting it to do some slick belnding, but I would like to know how much of it to use in a drop of paint and how long it stays workable.

Hey Dirge, I have only used this a couple of times. Here\'s what I do, I use this ratio of 1 drop of retarder for every two drops of paint. I have also noticed that it seems to at least double the time that I can use my paint.

Note: This is just what I have found when using this, I am sure that there are better ways than mine.

cool Drake i usually thin my paint down with a mix of water and Future floor wax, and it keeps it work able for a few minutes. So Im gonna go get some.

have you tried using a glasing technique over top of it? i know you can do this with Humbrol enamels and some linseed oil to keep it workable.

One thing to remember when using the retarder is that it makes the paint thicker, but not chunkier. What seems nice about it is that it does not mess with the pigments in the paint.

I have yet to try glazing over the top yet. I have mostly used the retarder when doing skintones.

I used this stuff last night. Luckely I didn\'t like the color so I didn\'t use it. When I woke up this morning I stuck my finger in the paint and it was still not dry.

I used 1:1 paint to retarder with a little water.

So if you do use it beware that under certain conditions (like humidity) it could stay wet and runin your piece...

hmm sounds like this stuff does what i expected it to do and that is give the Acryillic the qualites of Artist\'s oils, which i have had some experience with in the past, Im going to try this stuff out and see what kind of effects can get as i am osessed with \"smoothness\" these days.

That\'s funny, I\'m currently obsessed with taking smooth photos! lol

With the Retarder, Humidity affects it tremendously. I used it two days ago when it was raining all day...paint stayed open on my mini for like 5 minutes. I used it today when it was dry all day...barely made a difference in the drying time.
Remind me to paint all my cloaks, tanks, banners and other large areas that I use Retarder on when it\'s raining.

Giving new meaning to the phrase \"Save it for a Rainy Day\":]

You should try Vallejo\'s Glaze Medium too. A drop of this delays drying nicely and thins the paint. I\'ve started using it in place of retarder and have found it to be a good compromise.
