Vallejo Ink and GW dilution rate

I want to buy some inks and metallic colours, are Vallejo inks and metallics any good? ( I really like to try out chestnut ink though)

Another question, when I read the painting article from Vallejo it stated that 1 to 1 dilution is for coating and 1 to 5 is the minimum dilution rate for highlighting and shading. Vallejo paint (I used Game Colour) itself is far more diluted than the GW paints, should I follow the guide and make GW dilution for coating to like 1 to 4-5 and shading to 1 to 9/10 ?

GW metallics are generally considered better than Vallejo\'s, though some people use only vallejo and i prefer to use both.

For dilution i wouls say go with what feels right. You say you use vgc so just try and match those consisencys with the GW.
I usually use 1:1 for basecoats, 1:5/6 for layers and 1:9/10 for washes and glazes. Its all just a matter of personnal taste.

But since I\'m just starting out this hobby not too long ago, I think I just stick to the \'formula\' for a while before I get the hang of it.

Actually I bought about 20GW pots from eBay, used them for my first miniature (which looks bad...since I didn\'t thinned down the colour) then bought some Vallejos from local store for colours that I didn\'t have.

At first i think Vallejo is a bit too thin down compared to GW, so just wondering about the dilution rate .....

I tried to use dropper on GW, but it seems they are a little too thick to flow....(they just stuck inside the dropper)

In that case just use that formula and play about abit untill you get used to something that works for you.

You could add a couple of drops of water to the GW paints in the bottles to thin them a bit for the droppers.
