Vallejo model air??

i just bought some of this paint because of the blurb on the vallejo website.

has anyone tried using this on minis?
the shop owner said it would be too thin for brushing but it seems to be about right for really thin layers. and it seems to give reasonable coverage still.
it seems to be extremely fine pigment to. no clumpyness.

anyway has anyone else used it?
what did you think?

I have used it with brush painting on minis

I like it! It\'s very very thin. If the game color is too thick then model air is nice. I have 7 of these.

However, the range has a half dozen bold colors and the other 30 or so are military, subtle greens, greys and blues, etc. Not great for the fantasy painters. The Model Air Ochre is great for NMM gold though.

Conclusion??
Pros: super thin, GREAT coverage on white primer. Mixes well with rest of vallejo\'s acrylics.

Cons: Limited Color range, usually more expensive than the other lines.

That\'s my 2 cents Canadian, eh.

Peace!

I haven\'t used Vallejo Air...but..

I always use airbrush thinners to thin my normal paint. I reckon this is more economical that buying what almost amounts to pre-diluted paint.

Your shopkeeper is probably right, but he has the \'average\' punter in mind who probably wants to paint fast and cover in one coat. I would imagine Model Air would be perfect for \'our\' sort of mini painting, but as I said, its easier to use a dilutant and thin down than start off thin and thicken up:bouncy:

What the hell\'s model air?

Is this specially thinned paint for airbrush use?

Still waiting for GW to start selling water in pots and calling it \'acrylic model paint thinner\'!

lol

its vallejos airbrush paint sturmhalo!

it comes in the same dropper bottles. pretty thin but the vallejo website says the pigment in even finer than the rest of their paints. they also say it uses a different medium.
i believe it too. i spread some on my blotting paper and just for kicks drew it out as thin as i could. on white paper it thins to just visable and not a single speck of paint seen.
i dont think its comparable to thin model color.
i\'m thinking of useing the white for edgeing and highlighting.
will keep posted on results!

*edit* they also seem to have some metalics in this range. hafta give them a try too!

Sturm, don\'t be giving them any ideas now! The only reason they haven\'t is \'cos they\'ve not thought of it yet.

slightly OT

Does Vallejo paints have anything to do with Boris Vallejo (fantasy painter)?

I think there was a thread that mentioned this once, but it wasn\'t conclusive (or at least I cannot remember)

Please ease my questioned mind.

Acrylicos Vallejo is still a family owned and operated company, administered by the Vallejo family, and located in Vilanova i la Geltru, in the province of Barcelona.. Amadeo Vallejo still controls the formulas personally and supervises production, improving the development of the colors and introducing new products with the help of new raw materials and technologies.
taken from vallejo website.

nope. family name! of course boris could be a mamber of the same family. but it is still not named after him.

Where to buy??

I\'m very interested in purchasing some of the Model Color Air but I can\'t find anywhere that sells it. Can anyone reccomend an online site that will ship to/within the US?

And you just know it\'s going to dry out in five minutes in their pots anyway!

Brookhurst Hobbies carries it. I have never ordered anything from them, but they have a good reputation, and quite an extensive line.

Here:

www.brookhursthobbies.com/vallajoair.htm

Also, The WarStore carries a lot of the vallejo paints. I didn\'t see the \"air\" product there, but maybe if you contact them, they will get it in.

www.thewarstore.com

I have bought things from the WarStore and you would be hard pressed to find a better customer service and knowledgeable staff anywhere.

Good Luck!!
