Vallejo Model Colour and Vallejo Game Colour- Whats The Difference?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference between VMC and VGC are? from the looks of it VGC is shinier than VMC. If this is the case, would matt varnish decrease the shinyness of VGC?
Also does anyone have links to pics of miniatures painted with VMC and miniatures painted with VGC? For comparison.

thanks in advance

it appears...

VGC is more of a line similar to citadel paints. That said they do appear a bit more glossier but are generally more durable (they prob mix in some chemical that causes the gloss, but adds durability). As you may know, gloss varnish IS stronger than matte varnish.

THe VMC is said to be thinner, and \'weaker\' but gives a nice matte finish that historic or realistic painters seem to prefer. It also has more/rare colours compared to the VGC line which is really an enhanced GW colour line, in terms of selection.

Thanks for the reply StarFyre, it really helps. Do you think coating a miniature (once painted with VGC) in matt varnish would reduce the shine?

VMC is definitely not thinner than VGC (but it\'s slightly less durable as its main purpose is not for gaming minis). VMC is in fact very pigment heavy and should be thinned down. Also, VMC generally behaves better when thinned down than VGC.

Better depends on personal preferences. But VMC is mainly aimed for historical painters whereas VGC is aimed for gamers.
