vallejo transparents question

My bro and I were in a store today and saw some Vallejo colors that were like green transparent and smoke. Can someone tell me what these paints are like and what they are used for? I have heard people mention the Smoke as being good, but good for what? Thanks.

Smoke is the only \"Transparent\" I have and it\'s good for the following:

Adding shadow definition to hair,
Adding shadow definition to fur,
Adding shadow definition to Leather,

Ok I\'m being silly there but you get the general Idea. It\'s a very dark brown \'paint\' which really has to be thinned to a very high dilution to be effective.
I have used it to good effect on my Chaos Beastman (51580) as an overall tonal wash once the two initial coats and highlights were applied.
You can use it for a complementary colour wash over the likes of Dark Angel green to get a leathery effect on Orc (Ork) skin rather than the standard GW colour combinations.

Smoke is great also on metallics, to give depth when you have intricate detail like a piece of machinery.

By the way, Dragonsreach, this is a miserable picture of a beautiful mini. This beastman deserves a better picture with better light and definition. It is beautiful. You even have a brand new website to host the picture so you are not restriced on file size, just plain lazy admit it :D

I believe that transparents are used to tint, for instance, using orange transparent over yellow to make it ever so slightly more orange. I couldn\'t tell you for sure because I am lacking the big income at the moment and can\'t afford Vallejo paints.

On the topic of Vallejo, I had a question. What is the difference between Vallejo Model color and Game color, or are they the same and appealing to different markets?
