Vampire vs. Werewolf

Just saw the Van Helsing movie on DVD. The fight scene was good, but the question remains...weighing the strengths and weaknesses of vampires and werewolves, in a feud, who would come out on top?

Vampires have control of their formidable powers, werewolves don\'t. Vampires must retire during the day, werewolves don\'t.. Who\'s got the edge?

My head says vampires, my heart says werewolves.......:D

The hairs on the back of my neck say Vampires whilst the ravening beast inside me says....eat that raw meat, cock yer leg and urinate on that lampost! Vampires anyday! lol

vampires are definately more cunning. But.. they do seem to have more weak points. Garlic, crucifics, daylight etc etc. Werewolf just have silverbullits, right? And the need of a fullmoon.

i thought about this when i saw underworld. i always thought vampires, but they really sucked in that film - they seemed barely more powerful than humans. thinking about it, werewolves.

btw saw teen wolf the other day - you know, with michael j fox in it. naff. but coudn\'t turn it off!

I think Werewolves only \'cause their ferocity would more then outweigh the vampire\'s cunning. When it comes down to it, its who can rip the others heart out.:D

But if that were the case, then I guess a women would win every time.

I guess it would depend on which \"version\" of vampires and werewolves we were talking about. The vampires on buffy the vampire slayer are pretty lame compared to the vampires that shapeshift into bats and spiders and wolves and can control your mind with the slightest thought and move faster than your sight can detect etc etc. Werewolves have some variation too although not as much from what I\'ve seen.

But um...I\'d rather be a werewolf. I dont do puffy pirate shirts n all that purple walls n stuff.

Werewolves anyday...

Vampires are utterly crap:flip:

Mirrors, garlic, running water, two bits of firewood held together, sunlight, pointy sticks, Holy water....need I go on???

Not only that...they can\'t actually go anywhere without a servant to look after them during the day, half a ton of earth etc.

(Terry Pratchett lampoons them mercilessly in one of his books...)

Lets be honest, if vampires really existed in the food chain, they\'d be the natural prey of hamsters and weasels:D

I\'m just gonna stick with my White Wolf history (which Underworld pretty much ripped off anyway) and go with the Lyca...I mean, Lupines.

:D

This always came up in World of Darkness games. In Vampire: the Masquerade and Werewolf: the Apocalypse, the two never got along. It wasn\'t all out war like Underworld, but if one saw the other, it\'d get messy. Anyways, a Vampire is no match for any Shapechanger. Mostly because in all those games, claw and teeth damage is aggravated, it cannot be healed by supernatural means easily. Since werewolves gain canines and claws in their 50/50 form (Crinos) and become a giant Dire Wolf in their 75/25% form (Hispo), they\'d easily kick Vampire ass one on one... BUT: Werewolves are on the decline, and the bloodsuckers have their hands in the inner workings of Man. It\'d be easy for them to get thier hands on automatic weapons filled with silver, but they know the Garou wouldn\'t go down without a fight, and probably end up killing a few Elders and they\'d not be able to propagate.

So, in a battle: Werewolves, in the war: it\'s even.

Seems to me vampires would have the better opportunities to out-think werewolves -- in the old AD&D vampires were lawful evil (as i recall) giving the strength of will to concoct and fulfill their evil schemes. Werewolves, on the other hand, were chaotic evil, they\'d turn into dithering dupes when confronted with conflicting choices, i.e. a nice juicy steak or an enemy they needed to destroy.

Vampires\'d be better at the planning and execution stages, it\'d give them the edge I think.

Thank you.
Which one. Van Helsing was fun, Underwired was just an excuse for Kate Bekinsale to wear tight leather and shoot of an inordanate amount of ordanance.

Mind you I have to say that on consideration she did suit the black leather.

Well of course the moon puppies win hands down if you\'re talking about WOD. But then I\'m biased as I love to play the garou as they are more fun to play than the politically minded vamps. Really in that games system, its the Mages that can screw both the walking carpets and the blood suckers, because you can basically do anything you like if you have the right spheres and a good imagination (such as turning a werewolf\'s blood into liquid silver, etc).

However, I\'d pit my mokole with immunity to wyrm emminations against all comers... :innocent:

Ï think it will also depend on organisation (which again depends on what version of werewolves, etc.). Going by the old stories werewolves were solitory predatory instinctive creatures while Dracula had a whole organisation with minions and other helpers. My bet would be with Dracula (who also has several magical powers to back it all up).

Oh and underworld sucked as a movie but I can\'t help licking it. But I\'m pretty sure I\'d like anything with vampires in it

Werewolves. The wolves feral rage would have the vampire (vampyre) pinned to the floor with chunks missing from his neck before he could even say \"I vant to suck you bloooood\"
