varghar, some stages for you

o.k guys here are some pics i took whilst painting this varghar mini, these pics dont show the full method but hopefully they will give you all some insight into my style

base coats, codex, fortress greys, vermin, scorched browns, graveyard earth and black.

shade with bestial brown washes, build up gradually. then redo codex to remove the watermark( sorry no pic of that stage)

shade the blade with progressively darker layers of black and brown inks, start of with really transparent layers and build and thicken from there.( sorry no pic of that stage). then streak with back up to fortress grey, which also removes the watermarks. the gold/vermin bits are shaded with scaley green.

add some white to fortress grey and streak again(snigger), always thin the paint right down maybe 50/50, sometimes more sometimes less.

i agree, it\'s a lovely piece and i would love a true step by step but tbh, as it is, it\'s far from complete. so paint him again and take photos at EVERY stage!

A wonderfully painted minature. I have really found it useful to see how you have gone about to acheive the results and I agree with freakinacage about going into more detail with how you have done it. Perhaps you could do an article on it so it wont dissolve in the mass of forum threads.

Tommie, with regards to a tut, i have a wolfen warrior on my side from ME - 10 that i gave up painting, looking at your inking and shading it has given me renewed vigor,

I been asked some painty type questions on this mini lately, so i thought i'd bump this thread for you all

And an good bump it was! I went all out screaming schoolgirl when I saw what the thread was about, too bad about the GW-esque magic jump to finished product though. Still, I believe I snapped a few things up, really have to try that method you used on the blade.
